As the Senior Director of Product and Program Management for the Digital Business at Generac, you will be responsible for leading and shaping the strategy to scale Generac’s traditional and digital product offerings across both residential and industrial markets globally. You will be leading team of product/ program managers responsible for implementing the “digital infrastructure” in support of creating a world class end to end customer experience. In this role, you will partner closely with the Chief Information and Digital Officer and other key leaders to define and execute a vision that drives exceptional acquisition, installation and service experiences for new and existing customers. You will oversee the entire digital product lifecycle, from demand generation and value proposition creation to customer onboarding, post-sales engagement, and installation. Your mission is to simplify and enhance the customer purchasing journey, ensuring transparency and improving experiences for both customers and dealers throughout the customer/ consumer interaction lifecycle. You will lead a team of product managers responsible for optimizing the end-to-end experience across B2C, B2B, and B2B2C channels, integrating relevant software platforms into one seamless experience for Generac’s diverse customer base. You will also lead technology program managers responsible for leading the execution/ deployment of digital platforms that enable the end to end experience come to life.
This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Operations, Research, Design, Product, IT and Engineering. You will synthesize data and customer insights into actionable strategies that drive both short-term and long-term roadmaps. You will create experiences that surprise, delight, and build long-term loyalty among customers and dealers, unlocking significant growth opportunities for Generac.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead the vision and strategy for Generac’s customer acquisition and retention efforts (in terms of digital capabilities) across the global residential and commercial markets – working with cross functional leaders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Generac product portfolio and customer base, using data-driven insights and user research to inform strategy.
  • Drive alignment across product/ IT teams and cross-functional leaders through clear communication, data-driven recommendations, and strategic roadmaps.
  • Ensure that acquisitions fully realize their potential through streamlined digital, end to end experiences.

Product Development & Delivery:

  • Oversee digital product operations, ensuring seamless delivery of high-quality digital experiences across multiple portfolios and customer segments.
  • Establish and maintain robust processes for digital business product teams to ensure on-time and high quality product launches that meet both business goals and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams to deliver integrated product solutions that drive customer value and business outcomes.
  • Lead digital business product roadmap planning, ensuring alignment with the company’s long-term vision and customer needs.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow the digital business product management team, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and accountability.
  • Create an environment that encourages calculated risk-taking, rapid iteration, and learning from setbacks.
  • Identify and develop high-potential talent, ensuring consistent growth and skill development within the team.
  • Cultivate a failure-tolerant, experimentation-driven culture that fuels continuous learning and product innovation.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Leverage customer data, market insights, and performance metrics to inform product decisions and track post-launch outcomes.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize for business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the product organization, ensuring that all product initiatives are grounded in solid analysis and customer insights.

Customer Experience & Product Vision:

  • Ensure a consistent and exceptional customer experience across all touch points by aligning product management and design efforts.
  • Serve as a digital business product evangelist, clearly communicating the vision, strategy, and measurable goals for customer acquisition and retention.
  • Balance long-term strategic thinking with day-to-day execution, maintaining a sustainable pace for product development to ensure team well-being and delivery consistency.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with a strong track record of managing software products from inception through launch and iteration.
  • 7+ years of experience building, mentoring, and leading product management teams.
  • Strong technical proficiency, with proven effectiveness in collaborating with engineering teams.
  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a deep understanding of agile product development methodologies.
  • Proven ability to drive results in dynamic, fast-paced environments, making decisions with imperfect information.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence executives and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong strategic and analytical capabilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry and its technological landscape is a strong plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • MBA or advanced degree in a related field.
  • Pervious experience in the renewable energy or smart home industry.
  • Passion for consumer products and critical thinking skills.
  • Empathy for homeowners and installers.
  • Enthusiasm for driving innovation in residential and commercial energy adoption.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds.
