Responsibilities:

PURPOSE:

Our business is growing, and we need additional experienced people to join our team! The successful candidate will be planning, co-ordinating and leading the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of assigned large capital projects. Additionally, he/she will ensure clear agreement of client objectives, and these objectives are met or exceeded, achieve or better the budgeted gross margin and provide strong HSE leadership.
Provides direction and project management to ensure project completion in accordance with contractual obligations. Defines project goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of customer objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies. Plans, organizes, manages, and controls projects with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the Worley. Supervises project personnel through subordinate leaders.
Typically manages a single large or mega project or multiple, complex projects/programs with some high risk elements. Ability to visualize and design new concepts and ideas related to technical/functional projects. Broad knowledge of business operations and ability to implement and sometimes lead organizational change effectively within project scope. Solutions are derived from interpreted and applied general information and consultation with other individuals. Typically manages work directly through project leads or other project managers. Often serve as a proposal manager for large and mega projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • HSE Management – Lead the establishment and development of the HSE culture for the project. Drives compliance with all Client and Worley HSE procedures including cascading down to subcontractors.
  • Defines project success criteria based on client expectations and their vision of success.
  • Leads the development of the project vision and goals based on the final contract and client objectives.
  • Leads the team in adapting execution plans based on the market, project complexity (e.g., JVs, client structures, regions), and the contract.
  • Leads others in identifying opportunities and risk and takes appropriate action as needed.
  • Commercial Management – effectively manages Worley/Client prime contract, including flow down requirements for subcontracts, contractual correspondence with our clients and proactive strategies to ensure a win-win mindset for our projects.
  • Scope Management - manages an effective handover from the Business Development Group. Clearly defines scope and compliance with requirements of the contract. Effectively manages change control process application, project interfaces, including use of High Value Engineering Centers. Manages and monitors project performance to identify issues and opportunities early and seizing opportunities to take pre-emptive action.
  • Time Management - Directs the planning of all scope elements of the project. Develops resource and financial requirements from the project plan. Manages the design, procurement, and construction activities to meet the project schedule. Routinely monitors the key reports and development of corrective action plans. Achieves timely and effective documentation turnover at project close-out.
  • Cost Control - Establishes cost reports for control of projects. Monitors and controls all cost aspects of the project including forecasting costs, obtaining approvals, identifying trends and taking action to avoid cost overruns and identifying opportunities. Continual assessment of performance of cost control system and personnel.
  • Quality Management - Defines the project quality requirements. Ensures the right systems are in place and applied on the project. Develops a project schedule which allows work to be executed in logical sequences. Ensures compliance with Worley policies and procedures.
  • Team Management - Provides clear and focused leadership for the project team to create a vision for project success and a strategy to fit that vision. Focuses on achievement of milestones and other key project objectives. Provides mentoring and participates in staff performance evaluations.
  • Communications Management - Ensures accurate and timely progress reporting to the client and internally to Worley management. Ongoing monitoring of the communication network between project staff, the client and third parties and introduction of changes where required.
  • Establishes a culture/structure for talent development activities to run parallel with project activities.
  • Design Management - Sets clear objectives for the design team. Ensures design team is aware of and complies with client’s Basis of Design and applicable regulations and codes. Monitors design activities, inter-discipline data flow and communications.
  • Procurement/Subcontracts Management - Sets clear objectives for procurement and subcontracts team. Assesses procurement process through the project to ensure goods meet specifications and are delivered on time and within budget. Stewards the pre-award and post-award performance of the applicable subcontracts.
  • Construction Management - Sets clear objectives for the Construction team. Monitors the Construction Management function to ensure safe delivery of the project within cost and schedule objectives.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Able to make independent decisions and set priorities related to complex situation based on established guidelines and considering the cost and schedule impacts to the project.
  • Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in EPCM projects in the execution phase, from the commencement of detailed engineering, coordination pf procurement activities and management of construction contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience applying lessons learnt and adopting innovative solutions for continual improvement.
  • Willingness to take ownership of work outcomes.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to change in priorities at short notice.
