About the role
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Senior Document Controller to join our Major Projects team based around the South Eastern area.

This role will support the following area’s:

  • M25 North J3 - 27
  • M25 South J5 - 7 & M20 J3-5
  • M3 J2 - 4a
  • M4 J10 - 12

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Document Controller you’ll:

  • Manage the requirements for document control on the project to ensure implementation and compliance to standards established within the Business Management System (BMS). Own the Information Management plan and document control procedures.
  • Identify contractual requirements in relation to Document control. This will include adherence to ISO 19650 Task information delivery planning, Balfour Beatty Information Management Procedures and Project Contract requirements.
  • Ensure accurate control of documentation from pre-construction through to completion and archiving.
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure they have a full understanding of document control and system procedures and provide training and instruction as required such that documentation control requirements are met.
  • Ensure that procedures are fully implemented to meet requirements of the BMS and other documentation and information systems, e.g., Business Collaborator/ ProjectWise/ Other EDMS.
  • Manage business archiving such that all documentation is stored efficiently and can be accessed and always referenced.
  • Work to continuously improve and enhance procedures and systems utilised for document control.
  • Provide feedback such that design and project managers are fully aware of all documentation issues. Including the management and reporting of Document Control KPI’s.
  • Understand and carry out the role specific requirements of the Business Management System and help to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage the Document Transmittal process with the Client Systems and People.
  • Manage the control of Internal and External registers, to ensure they both align.
  • Support the handover team in compilation, control, and submission of H&S file / Quality Handover, specifically in line with Clients Procedures.

Who we’re looking for

THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES/EXPERIENCE ARE ESSENTIAL:

  • A good understanding of IT and the Business Collaborator EDMS and ProjectWise EDMS
  • Previous experience of working on construction projects on site utilising Common Data Environments .
  • Good experience of document control gained within the construction sector using ISO 19650.
  • Basic understanding of BIM (Building Information Modelling).
  • An ability to understand how the operations of the department relate to others and work collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the business. i.e Quality/Handover/Project Controls
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills.
  • Experience of co-ordinating the work of others.
