Responsibilities:

SCOPE OF THE ROLE

We are looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer to our Central Engineering team in Frankfurt. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary division that is trusted to deliver some of the industry’s most challenging and time critical engineering projects in locations throughout Europe.
Our need to recruit comes from the success of delivering for our clients in the Data Centre sector. This is a great opportunity for a design engineer with 5-8+ years experience to work within an internationally renowned engineering firm, working on large scale multidiscipline projects. You should have the ability to make decisions, act on your own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To undertake Electrical Engineering design on international projects with a good understanding of design standards
  • Preparation of design calculations on industry standard software for a variety of buildings
  • Review of drawings and specifications
  • Reviewing the design of sub-consultants. This includes checking Electrical systems schematics and specifications
  • Managing MIDPs and subconsultants’ TIDPS. (Master/Task information delivery plans) as per ISO 19650
  • Review the design at stage gates to assess if deliverables meet stage quality, level of detail and level of information requirements to proceed to the next stage (For example BSRIA BG6 Proforma 3,4,5)
  • Managing/attending 3D model workshops and coordination meetings.
  • Coordinate design, 3D models, specification, clashes and local standards.
  • Contribute to Value Engineering and identifying VE opportunities early in the design. This includes OSA(offsite assembly), Alternative products etc.
  • Development of pre-construction reports.
  • Development of Asset register, including Procurement Schedule report.(PSR)
  • Carry out take offs of equipment and bulk materials.
  • Representing Mercury at meetings with clients and consultants
  • Report writing
  • Maintaining records and archives to company standards
  • Site surveys and inspections
  • Manage own workload and workload of others
  • Monitor site works, attend sites during build to review installation
  • Assist in preparing and managing scope of works for Mercury sub consultants
  • Raise RFI’s and technical submittals during Electrical design development
  • Review development of established standard details and specifications
  • Technical responsibility for Quality associated with design deliverables
  • Review of electrical submissions
  • Creating technical submissions and coordinating with site teams with retrieving information from vendor/supplier.
  • Leading the procurement of long lead equipment. Including setting up the CDE (Comply,Deviate,Exeption) forms and reviewing against specifications and schedules.
  • Ensure consistency of Engineering approach across packages, clients, regions
  • Contribute to developing standards and practices, e.g. standardizing documents such as CDE, Technical submittals, etc. or creating guides and checklists such as Chilled water checklist.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement processes and Lessons learned/lessons transferred sessions
