Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the Senior Electrical Designer II will report to the Engineering Supervisor of the Engineering Department. The Senior Electrical Designer II is responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for various projects. They work closely with engineers and other team members to create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications. They also participate in project meetings, provide technical support, and ensure compliance with industry codes and standards. The Senior Electrical Designer II may also mentor and provide guidance to junior designers and drafters. Strong technical skills, knowledge of electrical design software, and the ability to collaborate effectively are essential for success in this role.

JOB REQUIREMENTS - CORE COMPETENCIES

Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel. Ability to order material electronically. Basic drafting/CAD skills. Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and drawings. Able to apply NEC, ANSI, and Other as it applies to the day-to-day activity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of Electrical Engineering
Minimum 4-8 years of experience in an Engineering/Designing role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
• Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
• Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
• Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force frequently throughout the shift.
• Lifting metal sheets up to 50lbs.
• Maneuvering metal sheets up to 200lbs.
• Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palms.
• Perceiving size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with the fingertips.
• Working with and around loud and fast moving machinery for the majority of the shift.

To create specific point to point wiring diagrams and back pan layouts for electrical switchgear, motor control, and power control rooms. Design custom/semi-custom products to meet customer electrical specifications. Produce print-to-point wiring diagrams from control schemes. Check wiring diagrams. Gain familiarity with electrical design and circuitry. Gain familiarity with industry codes and standards. Create basic design drawings with assistance. Update drawings per engineering and/or customer markups with direction from engineering personnel and transmit drawings to shop and customer. Complete “As Built” drawings in order to learn about drawing packages. Attend in house and outside training sessions. Learn policies and procedures, work instruction, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products.
