About the Role:
The WPE Sr. Design Engineer will support construction teams with installation, planning, drawing reviews, drafting, and coordination of electrical systems for multiple complex infrastructure projects. The Sr. Design Engineer will perform in a lead role assisting junior team members in the WPE Design department team in developing relevant skills.

The WPE design department works on Pursuits & Project Execution

  • On the Pursuits side we work with owners’ representatives and consulting firms to help optimize designs.
  • On the Execution side we have a large in-house BIM team that models for M&E coordination as well as for prefab.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and interacting with customers
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in reviewing designs to assure compliance with permitting requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards
  • Experience with design assist and design-build projects is highly desirable

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Advanced knowledge of the design, construction or operation of electrical systems for complex infrastructure construction projects
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems and components
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Team player who can successfully work with diverse internal and external partners
  • Proficient with MS Office applications
  • Proficiency in Revit software
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant regulatory guidelines

  • Design, develop, and maintain electrical control systems and components to required specifications, focusing on commercial electrical distribution systems
  • Produce accurate load calculations and single-line diagrams for various projects
  • Design lighting systems to meet project requirements
  • Create and review electrical drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders on design assist and design-build projects
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of design engineering personnel for the WPE Design Department
  • Provide guidance and training to design team members
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Essential Functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location
