Are you an experienced electrical engineer with a background in bespoke, high-stakes engineering solutions? At Johnson Controls Production Systems in Wymondham, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lend expertise to our custom-built hydraulic, chemical, and offshore control systems. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of hazardous area installations, ATEX/IECEX/INMETRO Ex protection (Exe, Exd, Exi concepts) for equipment like junction boxes, cable glands, isolating equipment, motors, and control panels.
Industry Standards: Familiarity with Oil and Gas regulations, including Machinery Directive, LV Directive, ATEX, and EMC Directives; extensive knowledge of standards like BS IEC 60204-1, BS IEC 61439, and non-electrical Ex standards ISO 80079-36 and ISO 80079-37.
PLC & Control Systems: Proficiency in PLC systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley), including programming, testing, and troubleshooting; expertise in HMI hardware and OPC UA communications.
Offshore Installations: Competency in offshore E&I installations and BS/IEC 61892 standards.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW

This role supports project teams by delivering technical E&I design expertise, ensuring compliance with client specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. You will oversee design layouts, develop essential documentation, and maintain quality assurance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Expertise: Provide design support on all E&I installations, with expertise in Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas, and ensure compliance with BS/IEC 60079 and BS/IEC 61892 standards.
Design and Documentation: Layout design for switchgear panels, PLC panels, and associated equipment using AutoCAD; generate Single Line Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, 2D Junction Box GA drawings, and project-specific documentation (Utilities Schedules, I/O Schedules, BOMs, Test Procedures, Lighting Calculations).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal departments regarding technical specifications and package design.
Health & Safety Focus: Integrate safety standards within all design processes, ensuring adherence to COSHH, VDU, confined spaces, and other regulations.
Risk Assessment & Compliance: Conduct risk assessments and aid in preparing technical files in compliance with EU Directives, HAZID, HAZOP criteria, and QA/QC requirements.
