We are an international company with a global footprint in 26 countries. The Australian division of our explosives business has been operating for over 10 years and is undergoing significant growth with the expansion of a production facility in Western Australia.
To support our strategic growth, we are seeking a suitably qualified Senior Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working in an automated electronic explosives manufacturing environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
You will be responsible for testing, fixing and adjusting our automated electronic detonator assembly plant. In addition to this core function, you will be responsible for:
- Defining and recommending methods, specifications and the functional requirements for new equipment.
- Recommending design projects plans in terms of method, cost, time schedules and staff requirements.
- Designing and developing equipment, parts of complex systems, materials, tools and methods.
- Preparing technical information, standards and specifications for machinery.
- Providing technical advice relating to the supply and use of plant, tools, equipment and materials.
- Planning, coordinating and participating in engineering projects including assembly, installation, commissioning, trials and maintenance of equipment.
- Calculating, assembling, installing, testing, calibrating, modifying and repairing electrical equipment and installations to conform with regulations and safety requirements.
- Complete each assigned project in terms of drawings, instructions and specifications in a timely manner.
- Liaising with other departments in relation to resource requirements.
- Monitoring quality (including first pass efficiency and waste management) and quantities of incoming and outgoing equipment, materials and product. Check working drawings, and specifications and arrange modifications where necessary.
- Controlling, tracking and reviewing the performance of electrical equipment and machinery against production and safety targets and lead improvement actions to ensure optimal performance.
- Performing research and continuous improvement activities.
- Liaising with various departments, e.g., engineering, regarding any modifications required to machinery.
- Recording completed work; including details of costs and materials used and retain progress drawings.
- Liaising with management, contractors, consultants and suppliers according to either an agreed work plan or problems as they arise.
- Identifying and estimating project risks and opportunities.
- Investigating and assisting with engineering technical issues.
- Preparing project plans, layouts and designs, including safety, quality assurance and environmental considerations.
- Ensuring the most effective use of people and equipment resources.
- Conducting ongoing risk management and hazard identification processes.
- Maintaining and supporting a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication requirements.
- Recording and report and safety incidents on safety reporting system.
- Where required coordinate and conduct toolbox meetings discussing safety, performance, procedures and policies.
- Training in and completion of any other duties requested by line manager from time-to-time as suits the evolving needs of the business.
