Purpose
The Innovation and Technology, Emissions Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to monitor, control, and reduce emissions from our operations. This role involves working closely with various departments to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to promote best practices in emissions management.

Main Responsibilities & Activities

  • Stay updated on the latest developments in emissions control technologies
  • Source, screen, and pilot new technologies that can reduce the cost of abating our emissions from stationary combustion
  • Build and maintain a revised corporate emissions forecast model by conducting emissions assessments and audits to identify sources of emissions and opportunities for reduction
  • Manage a capital budget for emission reduction projects, ensuring timely and cost-efficient execution
  • Stay abreast of federal, provincial, and local environmental regulations
  • Collaborate and coordinate with seconded in-house engineering, operations, and environmental teams to learn and integrate emissions control technologies and practices
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on emissions-related issues
  • Regular (monthly) travel to the field and conferences

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • Possess a well-rounded understanding of engineering principles and a practical, yet open mind-set
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in emissions management within the oil and gas industry
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian environmental regulations and standards
  • Experience with emissions monitoring equipment and software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
