Are you an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer looking for room to develop?
Are you seeking your next challenge in the EV/Powertrain Engineering field?
Do you aspire to make a positive impact through your work?
If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you…
Make a Real Difference: Engineer a Sustainable Future at OX Delivers
Do you want a career that tackles global challenges? At OX Delivers, we’re empowering communities and driving positive change through improving access to transport.
We’re seeking passionate individuals to shape the future of transportation. This is your chance to develop groundbreaking technology with a direct impact on people’s lives.
More Than Just a Startup, We’re a Mission-Driven Force
Empower Communities. Drive Change. Join OX Delivers!
We’re not your average tech startup. We’re targeting the 3 billion people in the Global South who lack access to reliable transportation, hindering their economic opportunities. Our innovative electric OX trucks are changing the game.
Building a Brighter Future, One Sustainable Delivery at a Time
The lack of transport infrastructure leads to food spoilage and limited economic growth for farmers and entrepreneurs across the Global South. OX Delivers is building a self-reinforcing cycle of economic empowerment and social impact, starting with markets across Africa.
The Heart of Our Mission: Technology with Impact
The heart of what we do is technology: the OX truck and the supporting digital ecosystem. The OX truck is the world’s first electric truck purpose-built for dirt roads which enables profitable logistics. Its simple design is focussed on total lifetime costs, in-market repairability and serviceability, and for manufacture in local markets.
Are you ready to engineer a brighter future? Join the OX Delivers team!
Tasks
What you can expect from the role
We’re looking for an experienced Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team as we continue to develop our trucks.
We face some unique challenges in developing an efficient off-road EV capable of performing reliably in emerging markets across Africa. We also have some unique advantages in terms of our fast feedback loops, high-quality data collection and iterative approach.
We have three engineering teams focused on different areas of our trucks - powertrain, chassis, and cabin – and a fourth ‘central’ team which manages the overall truck roadmap and helps the other three truck teams accelerate progress. You’ll be part of the powertrain team.
We have already produced four prototype trucks and are now testing the Next Generation OX truck. You’ll work closely with the other engineers to identify the optimal electrical solutions for future trucks.
You’ll be working alongside a more junior Electrical Engineer, so you’ll have more ownership of the overall electrical architectural design, ensuring that our electrical systems are suitable for production at scale.
You’ll be designing and building electrical systems where we need bespoke components like harnesses or high/low voltage integrations.
Over the coming months we will be ramping up production and increasing the number of trucks in market significantly. This will require a more strategic approach. You’ll need to put processes in place that are effective as we move into batch production.
You’ll be designing and building electrical systems where we need bespoke components like harnesses or high/low voltage integrations.
You’ll provide a crucial interface with other cross functional teams, to ensure that we are aligned with the roadmap maintained by the central truck team.
Your role is likely to be 80% theoretical work and 20% hands-on in the workshop.
Requirements
The experience you’ll need to be effective
The most important factor is that you already have experience working on EV electrical architecture systems.
You’ll have experience working on both high and low-voltage distribution.
Ideally you have designed test and release processes on past projects.
You’ll need to be solution-oriented and demonstrate a can-do attitude.
If you’ve not worked in agile teams before, you’ll need an enthusiasm to adopt it.
We are united by a strong sense of purpose in our work, we’ll want to hear why our purpose resonates with you.
Finally, we offer flexible hybrid working. It’s likely that you’ll need to spend 2-3 days per week at our workshop in order to be effective in this role.
Benefits
There Are More Than a Few Reasons to Join Us
This is an exciting time to join our team as we take the trucks from development to production-ready prototypes.
You’ll have significant ownership of the design of our electrical systems.
You’ll be a valued team member with influence over our ways of working.
The impact of your work will be quickly apparent through our fast feedback loops and data-led iterative approach.
We also offer flexible working practices so you can do the school run or pop to the dentist when you need to without stressing.
Our teams track progress, not timesheets.
We offer a flexible holiday policy, so essentially, if your team agrees, you can have it!
All staff receive share options so you share in our success.
Apply now to join us on our mission!
