The role is responsible for building and supporting the development of delivery teams at Iress while ensuring the experience is frictionless by providing core services that enable Iress engineers to build and deploy software with ease.
Ensures engineers are equipped with the right infrastructure, consistent processes and environment that facilitates getting work done with ease. This includes helping to find ways to automate or eliminate the toil engineering teams face, helping to standardise services and integrations and find solutions to common problems.

Some of the awesome things you’ll be involved with:

  • Support the transformation and modernisation of development practices across Iress, identifying, trialing and / or building new offerings for Iress
  • Provide support for the platforms and integrations we own. Takes initiative in troubleshooting and resolve issues quickly and effectively
  • Advocate for concerns of our Engineers, ensuring we understand each team’s needs and are able to prioritise them appropriately
  • Foster and grow strong working relationships with the wider technology group
  • Proactively seek feedback from others to make informed contributions to team discussions on the teams’ roadmap, architecture, and strategy
  • Effectively manages own work, whether assigned or taken. Ensures dependencies, issues or risks on other teams are known and owns remediation of such

What you will bring:

  • A strong programming background and experience in Python is preferred
  • Experienced in risks, issues and operational requirements of using third-party solutions as well as internally developed technology
  • Experience in several software related technical specialisations, such as automation, security and observability, with a deep knowledge in CI/CD systems, build tools, and artifact management systems
  • Experience implementing or creating fully automated, end to end build and deployment pipelines, through the use of tools such as BuildKite, TeamCity, Jenkins, or GoCD
  • Keen ‘DevOps’ focus and experience building and deploying infrastructure with cloud deployment technologies while applying effective security measures
  • Expert knowledge of modern software technology including cloud services, consumer trends in technology and engineering principles and practices - leads, drives and ensures team automates through the implementation of solutions “as-code
  • Will test the status quo and enjoys thinking about and implementing innovative ways to solve problems - and in doing this, is not afraid to fail
