OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us in our Central Engineering team where, as well as maintaining legacy assets, you’ll deliver new systems and solutions. There’s more to it than tubes, roads, buildings and bridges. This is about connecting communities and creating opportunities, so we’re ready for the 21st century and beyond.
We strive to optimise whole life asset management through the application of data, technology and improved processes. We work with a complex landscape of stakeholders to improve delivery efficiency and embed new, and more effective ways of working into the organisation. We are continuously innovating, problem solving and working in ambiguity to drive the business forwards.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Leader for Asset Condition, you will play a key role in supporting TfL in becoming a more efficient transport network and modernising the way in which their assets are operated and maintained. Day-to-day, your focus will be on working with stakeholders from across the entire Asset Lifecycle to drive a culture of continuous improvement, coordinate the implementation of engineering change and support the realisation of benefits.
Working within the London Underground (LU) Engineering delivery team, you will have the necessary expertise to identify, evaluate and develop new and innovative ways of managing our assets to deliver against our asset strategies, maintenance regimes, engineering strategies and drive us towards our vision of becoming a data driven organisation.
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR;
- identifying new opportunities to deliver business efficiencies and/or modernise maintenance
- develop engineering scopes of work and delivery plans to achieve the agreed outcome
- evaluate and document the potential business benefit
- support implementation and any corresponding business change, as required
- You will have a comprehensive understanding of business requirements throughout the operate & maintain phase of the asset lifecycle and in the management of emerging engineering risks which impact safety, reliability and availability. This will enable the delivery of engineering solutions/change that integrate with the business processes deployed by the operational business whilst also aligning with business objectives.
ADDITIONAL USEFUL COMPETENCES (NOT MANDATORY FOR ROLE)
- Facilitating understanding of data by displaying concepts, ideas, and facts using graphical representations.
- Developing and implementing plans, policies, and practices that control, protect and optimise the value of data assets.
- Planning, estimating and executing digital system development works to meet time, budget and quality targets.
- Coordinating information and technology strategies where the adoption of a common approach would benefit the organisation.
We are looking for driven, competent and well-rounded engineers who share a passion for the TfL Vision and Strategy. That’s because, wherever you join us, you’ll explore work of unparalleled scale, scope and variety across a unique range of projects, as you build your career and expertise. So come and bring on tomorrow, as an Engineer at TfL.
