We are currently looking for talented and motivated Senior Pavement Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. This role can be worked flexibly, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times.

Responsibilities:

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

Working as a Senior Pavement Engineer in the Edinburgh Highways team we’ll offer you exposure to varied project work, both operating client side and in a design and build environment working on publicly funded and private developer projects.
You will undertake and manage the design of pavements through the application of proven techniques and procedures to develop appropriate solutions to client problems including:
Undertaking developed and detailed pavement design on multi-disciplinary projects whilst conforming to the client’s scope or contractor’s requirements.
Producing and checking design outputs such as drawings, specifications, schedules, reports and calculations etc, to achieve the optimum solution for the project.
Working in close collaboration with your team and liaising with design disciplines to ensure pavement design requirements are established.
Ensuring deliverables are carried out within agreed timescales and budgets.
Ensuring that design solutions meet the client’s needs and expectations are met/exceeded.
Leading client and contractor liaison regarding the pavement design and supervising works on site when required.
Mentoring the next generation of pavement engineers through mentorship and through training schemes.
Ensuring that all work is carried out to the Company’s IMS, and current H&S legislation requirements, i.e. CDM Regulations 2015.
You will take ownership and responsibility for the quality of work you produce.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU’LL POSSESS:

A relevant degree and be working towards Chartered Engineer status within 12 months or hold Incorporated status with a relevant professional institution.
Experience in the planning, management and delivery of the pavement design on large multi-disciplinary projects and small local authority schemes.
Experience in the undertaking and management of highway pavement design in accordance with the DMRB using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel and Shell Bisar 3.0.
Experience and technical competence of all sections of the DMRB Volume 7, Pavement Design and Maintenance, TRL Reports and appropriate British Standards.
Experience in the preparation of 700 Series Specification Appendix documents for both major and small-scale projects using Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).
Experience in direct and back analysis assessment of Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) using Dynatest ELMOD 6.
Experience of common data environments such as ProjectWise, Viewpoint for Projects or BIM360.
Experience in the planning, procurement and supervision of pavement investigations.
The confidence to present design solutions and progress discussions both internally and externally to clients and stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
