As our Senior Engineer, Product Manufacturing, you will partner closely with various departments to assist with the development of products and manufacturing processes. You are a natural problem-solver with a seamless ability to assist with research, evaluation, design, and quality control processes. As a hands-on self-starter, you have an insatiable curiosity to learn, understand cross-functional interdependencies to make things happen, as well as have a strong ability to understand and apply business context. This role will influence and impact the evolution of Pure Sunfarms by supporting with continuous manufacturing operation improvements to support excellence in product development and manufacturing. The impact and influence of this role will be to be a part of a development team that strongly focuses on product and manufacturing innovations, including product development, process, packaging, manufacturing, equipment, and capabilities.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Product Development

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new products, including packaging solutions, designs, structures, form factors and support with the implementation to ensure smooth launch es of new products .
  • Conduct prototyping and testing of new products or packaging to refine designs for production readiness .
  • Source, test, purchase, and commission new equipment to meet manufacturing needs to support product launches .Communicate directly with vendor partners, including packaging and equipment vendors as required

Product Manufacturing Process

  • Identify and prioritize projects to develop manufacturing processes for new products, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and market demands.
  • Analyse market research and product specifications to identify opportunities for innovation and optimization in the manufacturing process for new products.
  • Develop and implement novel manufacturing processes and procedures tailored to the unique requirements of new product designs, integrating principles from Lean Six Sigma and 5S methodologies for efficiency and quality.
  • Design room layouts and process flows specifically tailored to the production of new products, prioritizing safety, flexibility, and efficiency to support the successful introduction and scaling of new product lines.
  • Develop and document process and work instructions.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance and planning teams for development and project handovers.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to understand requirements and prioritize projects based on strategic goals.
  • Assess feasibility and risks, considering factors like materials and costs.
  • Analy s e market trends and prototype testing data to inform development.
  • Implement new manufacturing processes tailored to product requirements, ensuring scalability and regulatory compliance.
  • Design flexible layouts and integrate automation where possible.Track metrics for new product introductions, drive continuous improvement, and foster cross-functional collaboration.

Production and Process Implementation

  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve product development and quality issues.
  • Provide technical insights and support to product development and production teams, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of equipment and processes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to discuss project progress and address manufacturing challenges.
  • Design and customize equipment, tools, and jigs to enhance production on new products
  • Lead the integration of new products and technologies into the manufacturing process to improve product offerings and streamline operations.Work with relevant teams to establish and implement new processes, aiming for efficiency, quality, and safety in production.
