Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Engineer Warehouse Automation and Solution Design (all genders), who is ready to join our Fulfillment Team and takes an important part in shaping our “logistical” future.
As Senior Engineer Warehouse Automation and Solution Design (all genders) you are supporting our growth strategy by developing different Fulfillment Center (FC) layouts and technical requirements together with our Logistics Service Providers as well as Automation Solution Providers. You will further develop the zooplus automation strategy of our fast growing distribution network, currently consisting of 12 FCs all over Europe.
You will be leading projects concerning the identification and implementation of innovative and sustainable logistics processes and intra logistics solutions, tailored to our needs. Growing our Fulfillment Center network efficiently and making our process scalable is a key task of this role.
You are part of multinational cross-network projects, aligning with our internal and external stakeholders on processes, efficiency improvement initiatives and automation potentials.
You are suggesting and adjusting the technical requirements for our FCs to sustainably support our continuous growth.
A perfect candidate identifies business needs and further project steps independently and develops a strong ownership for his/her projects. Project results and status updates are presented in a professional manner and business cases/case studies on new opportunities are being prepared structured and clear.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Finished Bachelor or Master’s degree (HTS/HBO) in the field of technical logistics or industrial engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of sound working experience in a comparable position in engineering consulting, intra logistics supplier or LSP engineering departments, preferred in at least 2 working areas
  • Sound knowledge of distribution and intra logistics, preferably in a retail / e-commerce or mechanical environment
  • Experience in the conception and implementation of logistics processes (e.g. inbound, put away, picking, packing, loading, shipping, returns, relocations, time studies etc.)
  • You have numerical view, you are analytically set and cost conscious
  • Excellent communication skills and a high customer orientation
  • Ability to work in international teams demonstrating cultural sensitivity and social competence
  • Experience in leading multiple complex role related projects
  • Experience in common methods of project management (e.g. project plans, timelines, LOPs etc.) as well as lean management
  • Analytical skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Willingness to travel (minimal 30%)

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and validating automated warehouse layouts for e-commerce customer fulfillment
  • Planning, conception and leading implementation of innovative and sustainable logistics processes
  • Screening the market for new technological developments and market trends as well as competitor initiatives
  • Identifying of best practice approaches in order to optimize costs, service and quality
  • Preparing complete business cases including correct cost models and P & L analyzes
  • Prepare and negotiate framework contracts including rates and service levels with suppliers
  • Support in installation, commissioning, integration, testing and ramp-up of new equipment in the warehouses
  • Developing testing and implementation plans for new technologies
  • Help to drive the strategic development of the Engineering Team
  • Supporting data-driven decision making with data collection, analysis, and evaluation
  • Handle escalations for your stakeholders within Operations
