SENIOR ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST/TECHNICIAN

Halton Hills Hydro Inc. is currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Engineering Technologist/Technician. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be a member of the senior engineering team preparing design and cost estimates, work order packages for various electricity distribution system projects, providing mentorship for Engineering Technicians, and participating in stakeholder technical committees.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of Community College in an Electrical Engineering Technology Program, Technician Program or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is an asset;
- Minimum 7 years of experience in design and project management related to subdivision, underground and overhead distribution projects;
- Experience with AutoCAD; Experience with SpidaCalc and SCADA systems will be considered an asset;
- Self-motivated and an independent learner able to work confidently with some or little instruction;
- Registered with OACETT as a Certified Technician; Certified Engineering Technologist (preferred); P.Eng. is an asset;
- Must possess a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities:
The duties for this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Plan and design overhead and underground distribution, sub-transmission, and substation projects for capital, recoverable, and maintenance work;
- Prepare project estimates, work orders, bills of materials, letters, permits, agreements as required to expand and maintain the electrical facilities and distribution system;
- Plan, design, and maintain utility SCADA system including alarm monitoring, data analytics, develop test procedures for data acquisition, and make recommendations to the Manager;
- Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate projects and budgets to ensure on scheduled completion;
- Review and respond to 3rd party attachment applications for O.Reg. 22/04 compliance including general tracking of applications in database and issuing of permits;
- Process distributed generation applications, prepare Offers to Connect, Agreements, drawings, and oversee projects through connection, and update databases;
- Prepare distribution system load modelling and fault current reports;
- Research and prepare new and revised construction standards and purchasing specifications, including making recommendations to the Manager;
- Inspect work of electrical consultants, developers, and municipal agencies to ensure their plans and work are acceptable to and meet Halton Hills Hydro Inc. standards;
- Provide support and guidance to Engineering Technicians and Operations on various subjects;
- Review and comment on municipal development applications;
- Attend municipal or regional working groups/technical committees where HHH is a stakeholder;
- Adhere to all Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations, the IHSA Rule Book and HHH policies and procedures;
- Wear personal protective equipment as required;
- Perform other duties as required.
