Description:

Leadership and Strategy Planning

  • Participate in developing and implementing hospital strategic plans to ensure alignment of goals and objectives of the Division with Hospital’s strategic objectives.
  • Provide input / give suggestions in the management, planning, organising, coordinating and operational processes of the Operating Theatre (both inter- and intra-departmental).
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and / or updating policies that focus on patient care, as well as helping to attract and retain qualified personnel.
  • Assist in establishing, implementing and evaluating standards towards the overall goal of safe and effective patient care.
  • Give input towards staffing and other plan(s) that will accomplish the stated objectives and standards of clinical service as well as maximising utilization of all theatres’ personnel, based on individual qualifications and within established limits of responsibility and authority.
  • Determine, recommend, plan and keep within the departmental budget to implement stated objectives.

Operations

  • Facilitate and ensure efficient and cost-effective management of Department operations.
  • Develop an operational system geared towards providing efficient, safe and seamless service across different service points within and outside the Department.
  • Develop plans to ensure the implementation of continuous improvement / review of services and care provided, to meet Hospital’s objectives and meet doctors’ and patients’ expectations.
  • Track and monitor processes based on quality indicators established and/ or identified.
  • Optimise resource management / utilisation to achieve established budgets for labour, supplies and capital budget.
  • Organise and coordinate operational processes of Department, not limited by the functions (Operations, clinical, services or programmes) as and when assigned.

Staff Management

  • Work collaboratively with nursing and non-nursing staff to provide service at all points / interfaces within the Department.
  • Responsible for administrative staff in Operating Theatre. Ensure they receive appropriate induction, orientation and training so that they possess appropriate skills and knowledge to carry out their jobs. To also give feedback / conduct appraisals for ground administrative staff.
  • Responsible for administrative staff recruitment and retention. Plan and justify for resources required to achieve the department’s business and process improvements.
  • Inculcate quality culture and strive for excellence in all areas. Facilitates implementation of strategic HR Management policies and programmes to achieve business goals, customer’s expectations and staff satisfaction.

Communication and Teamwork

  • Create conducive environment to facilitate open communication between staff, management and doctors.
  • Ensure timely dissemination of information, escalation of issues and recommend solutions to problems.
  • Interface with physicians and other professionals to promote teamwork with hospital staff.
  • Participate in physician-relation (liaison) /engagement activities and marketing

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in management or equivalent.
  • Registered Nurse with Post Graduate Nursing Specialty Certificate is an advantage.
  • At least 3 years experiences in healthcare environment setting.
  • Experience must include supervisory role with demonstrated executive and leadership ability
  • Service-orientated with excellent people skills.
  • Analytical, quantitative and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Positive work attitude.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, negotiation and counselling skills.
  • Practical knowledge of hospital operations.
