Description:
The Senior Material Flow Engineer will develop the flow inside of the factories ground (inside and outside). Therefore, the role needs to work closely with interface partners from layout, process material flow, warehousing, logistics, quality, rework, construction, and offices. This function has the governance of all flows beside the process material flow. Therefore, the responsibility is to design, optimize and balance the flows of components, semi-finished and finished goods, and personnel with the target to create a smooth flow of production lines under the lean manufacturing principles. Collaboration with highly technical cross-functional teams is needed to ensure the factory throughput, efficient support functions and that the factory utilizes the available space most efficiently.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, optimize and balance complex flow solutions of finished goods, parts and people on the factory grounds by considering lean manufacturing principles and utilizing new technologies and specialized equipment.
- Lead the standardization and creation of procedures.
- In new factory projects the role has the governance to ensure all flows affecting arrangement of buildings, equipment, operations, and support functions.
- Planning, ordering (RFQ runs), and handing over all necessary equipment to ensure the factory material flow (eg. AMR/AGV, tugger trains, forklifts, supermarkets, support areas, etc.)
- Optimize manufacturing layouts incorporating people and material flow at the plant level.
- Identify bottlenecks within the plant and define measures to solve them with the technical cross-functional team and drive the process to ensure implementation of measures
- Support production ramp-up in Northvolt Systems factories (in and outside Europe) and handover to operations and sustaining industrial/process engineers.
- Introduce and train Factory Material Flow Engineers and trainees
- Participation in functional teams and ramp-up activities, during Manufacturing Solutions Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), Final Acceptance (FA), training operators/ technicians and troubleshooting of issues during initial production runs at line level and ensures procedures consistency
- Development and implementation of Karakuri systems and material handling systems to ensure smooth and efficient flow of raw materials, semifinished goods and finished products throughout the manufacturing process
- Ensures that the manufacturing solution is built, delivered and set-up to achieve desired goals under the constrains of timeline, performance and resources by leading cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, safety etc…)
- Other tasks assigned by a manager
