REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong fibre splicing experience - able to complete 150 to 200 splices a day when required
  • Able to operate and detail IOLM/OTDR
  • Ability to work on own initiative with strong self-organisational skills
  • A strong willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving processes and procedures
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills when talking to landowners
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Are you an experienced Splice Engineer looking to move to becoming a Senior Splice Engineer working on the Core of the Network?
We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our Technology Fibre Management Team carrying out fibre splicing across our core network. Covering both new build and existing areas of network, you will work from splice maps, and with your line manager and colleagues to complete tasks assigned.
Our Senior Fibre Splicing Engineer regularly splice the backbone of the network using various splicing enclosures, you will be expected to carry out key critical splice tasks (unsupervised) across the core of the network. Our Senior Splice Engineers mainly works on the Core of the network across rural and within the OpenReach network (PIA). The ideal candidate for this role will be adept at splicing and testing fibre networks, be comfortable travelling to sites across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire and happy working as part of a small close team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fibre Splicing: Perform splicing at both new and existing splice enclosures to ensure optimal network performance
  • Workload Prioritisation: Collaborate and work with Line Manager to ensure core network splice tasks are completed on time and to deadlines.
  • Maintenance and Upgrades: Conduct emergency and scheduled maintenance/upgrades across the Wessex Internet fibre network to ensure continuous Working with the wider technology team to deliver planned works (overnight) for network expansion and network optimisation.
  • Service Restoration: Diagnose and restore service issues within the network, maintaining customer connections when equipment is damaged.
  • Team and Individual Performance: Working individually and as part of a wider technology team to achieve KPIs and company targets.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety legislation to maintain a safe working
