The District of Kent is offering an exciting opportunity in our Financial Services Department for a Senior Finance Clerk.
This key role performs a variety of accounting and clerical functions varying in degrees of complexity. Although this role is focused primarily on payroll and accounts payable functions, the job description also includes processing utility billings and tax notices, annual tax sale, home owner grants, tax deferments and refunds, reconciling tax accounts, calculating property taxes, penalties and interest; cash accounting including the reconciliation of cash transactions; reconciling various accounts and subledgers; preparing audit working papers; providing assistance and information to the public; cash receipting, and miscellaneous analyses.
We are looking for someone who has post-secondary education in accounting and commercial courses with formalized training; enrollment in the CPA accounting program or academic equivalent; a minimum of three (3) years previous experience in a municipal finance/payroll environment or recognized equivalent financial environment with related duties; able to perform mathematical and arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy; perform tasks with minimal supervision; and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, public and related governmental or community agencies.
The post-probationary wage rate for this bargaining unit position is $36.35 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.
