Description:
London
At Freetrade, we believe investing should be accessible to everyone. It’s one of the best ways to grow your savings, but for many, it seems complicated, expensive, and out of reach.
We’re here to change that.
We’re building a team with diverse and unique perspectives to help us on our mission to demystify investing.
Our goal is to help our customers achieve better, long-term financial outcomes.
In the UK, we now have over 1.6m registered users, offering a range of products like the Freetrade Pension, a stocks and shares ISA, and our premium plan, Freetrade Plus. We’ll be continuing to transform our product, developing new features and introducing new products.
We are a young, growing company looking for an ambitious and driven accountant to join our centralised Finance team based in London. This role reports to the Head of Financial Control & Reporting and is a key contributor as part of the Finance team.
You will…
- Own Month-End Accounting: Oversee the centralised month-end accounting process for Freetrade Limited and its UK and overseas subsidiaries.
- Manage General Ledger & Consolidation: Be responsible for the maintenance, reconciliation, and consolidation of the general ledger, while documenting accounting policies and processes.
- Strengthen Financial Controls: Ensure that strong financial controls are in place and operating effectively, including thorough and accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
- Coordinate Audit Process: Serve as the primary point of contact for the external audit team, coordinating all audit activities and leading the preparation of financial statements.
- Technical Lead on Accounting Policies: Act as the technical expert for advising on accounting policies for new product launches and strategic initiatives within Freetrade, ensuring compliance with relevant UK GAAP/IFRS standards.
- Tax Compliance & Advisory: Work closely with our advisors to ensure compliance with all direct and indirect tax-related reporting requirements, including leading our R&D claim and transfer pricing policies.
- Own the Accounting System: Take full ownership of the accounting system (NetSuite), ensuring it supports accurate, efficient, and scalable financial operations.
- Drive Operational Improvements: Take initiative to identify and implement system, process, and control improvements to drive automation and efficiency.
- Support Financial Control Operations: Assist the wider Financial Control team in day-to-day operations, including timely bank reconciliations and processing of supplier payments.
You have…
- You are a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least five years of hands-on experience as part of a finance function - experience working in or with UK retail financial services regulated firms would be advantageous.
- You hold strong knowledge and experience of accounting under UK GAAP/IFRS financial reporting compliance;
- You’re systems literate with an understanding of system capabilities (experience with Netsuite is a real plus!);
- A desire to learn and really get into the details of a Finance operation, while sharing your experience and knowledge with team members;
- You’re a self-starter and a problem solver - you will have a structured and systematic way of working, as well as excellent time management;
- You thrive in a fast-paced working environment where you can act on and share ideas.
Benefits & Logistics
The application process consists of a four stage process. You will initially have a phone interview with one of our internal Talent Specialists, followed by a call with the hiring manager, a technical interview (pair programming exercise and separate open discussion on mobile architecture), and a cultural and behavioural interview.
We offer a competitive salary plus stock options and lots of other benefits.
You’ll have a stake in the company you’re building, with stock options benchmarked to US companies.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a diverse and representative team. Whatever your race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability - we want to hear from you. We’re very open about what we’re working on, and the best places
