SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT, TREASURY & ACCOUNTS MANAGEMENT
- Employment Type: Temporary
- Employment period: 6 months
- Classification / Grade / Band: Clerk Grade 9/10
- Remuneration: $125,693 - $138,510; plus, Superannuation and Leave Loading

Responsibilities:
As a Senior Financial Accountant, your role involves preparation of technical accounting papers, assist with annual reporting disclosures, drive process improvements, assistance with submission of key reporting and compliance deliverables, and all financial information to ensure integrity of Treasury’s financial data. Additionally, you will assist in developing the technical expertise of junior members of the team. In this role you will ensure that statutory reporting requirements are met for Treasury and responsible for Machinery of Government impacts to the agency.
You will have a particular focus on climate related financial disclosures and project work to drive process improvements in Treasury.
You will play an active role in the coaching of junior team members and educating senior managers on policies and procedures and good governance.

Achieve success as Senior Financial Accountant
In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
- Advanced communication skills to confidently liaise with various levels of management
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting / Commerce / Finance and/or related discipline
- CA or CPA qualifications. Advantageous to have post-qualification experience of 8 years or more
- Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Government accounting policies and practices
- Understanding of tax reporting requirements – GST, FBT and Payroll tax
- Extensive skills and experience in financial and management accounting including budgeting, forecasting, analysis and statutory reporting
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and work collaboratively to complete team deliverables
- Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written
- Advanced Excel skills
- High level interpersonal skills: ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with all stakeholders
