Our opportunity
As Senior Financial Accountant you will provide finance support to the Residential Developments business which includes analytical and financial accounting support and preparing monthly financial accounts for various entities and joint ventures, tax preparation and analysis for consolidated state accounts. This role will include project accounting, month end duties, interaction with finance and non-finance stakeholders and strong involvement with shared services offshore team. This role is an initial 10 month fixed term contract.

Responsibilities:

Preparation of monthly financial accounts on an entity and state level, and deliverables to Group Finance for wholly owned entities, JVs and JOs
Preparation of Sales/COGS/Interest calculations and review journals on a monthly basis
Review and maintenance of Project Control reconciliation
Ownership of month end tasks to ensure all accounting across Balance Sheet and P&L, including review of monthly reconciliations of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts
Completion of half year and year-end routine tax provision calculations, tax schedules and annual income tax returns. Liaise with Group Tax with respect to any changes to accounting/business processes and tax accounting adjustments
Preparation of half year and full year Group Reporting Pack and various other group deliverables
Review of BAS calculations and reporting. Responsible for GST queries from Group Tax
Preparation of work papers for interim and final audit, and assisting with audit queries
Review of all general ledger postings and workings from shared services team and assist as necessary
Point of contact between offshore team and business, as well as monitoring and providing feedback on offshore team performance
Liaise with various business stakeholders as necessary (e.g., Group Finance, Development Managers, General Managers)
Assist in driving system/process improvements across Finance to drive consistency and efficiency. Attend, participate and contribute towards the Business Transformation project as required
Maintain GL, Job Cost, Cost Centre data and ensure system entities are mapped accordingly
Manage personal professional development including keeping abreast of changes in technical and accounting standards and taxation legislation and undertaking appropriate training as necessary
Your point of difference
To be successful, you will be CA/CPA qualified with strong technical accounting skills and reasonable knowledge of general income tax and GST principles. You have prior experience working within the Development/Construction industry and possess well-developed communication skills to partner with business stakeholders. You have excellent attention to detail, are self-motivated with the ability to manage time effectively and work to deadlines.
