Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

ErinoakKids is currently seeking a team oriented, customer focused individual to fill the position of Senior Financial Analyst. As a key member of the Finance department, and reporting to the Financial Analysis Supervisor, the Senior Financial Analyst will be involved with internal and external financial and statistical reporting, ensuring compliance with funding legislation and MIS guidelines, budgeting and forecasting, analyzing internal operating results, developing and maintaining management reporting templates, supporting month-end, quarterly and year-end information and reports, and internal controls. The Senior Financial Analyst will build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide professional financial assistance in alignment with organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing certain day-to-day accounting, financial reporting and analysis to support on-going internal and external reporting requirements, including month-end journal entries, FTE analysis and account reconciliations;
  • Prepare and analyze monthly variances between budget and actual financial results, present accurate, complete and timely analysis to management to support decision-making;
  • Prepare, review and submit monthly and/or quarterly Financial and Statistical Reports to external stakeholders, as required;
  • Support the budget process from planning to finalization with direction from the Financial Analyst Supervisor;
  • Complete benchmarking and trending exercises periodically to ensure monitoring of performance, risks and opportunities;
  • Participate in regular forecasting exercises to assist with critical decisions related to the organization’s financial position;
  • Provide ongoing support for identified initiatives and other responsibilities as required;
  • Provide back-up support for the Financial Analysis Supervisor as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Commerce and/or Business Administration specializing in Accounting;
  • Possess or in pursuit of a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred;
  • 5-8 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Proven skills in financial statement preparation, analysis and reporting, including understanding of Canadian GAAP/PSAS requirements;
  • Advanced computer skills and superior knowledge of computer applications and database software applications. Extensive experience with Excel is required;
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment;
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and handle a high volume of work;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Sense of initiative and accountability, and able to work with minimal supervision;
  • Experience with implementation, maintenance and report writing with a complex information management system;
  • Healthcare experience is preferred along with experience with Meditech software applications and IBM Budget software;
  • Knowledge and experience with MIS guidelines for financial and statistical healthcare reporting preferred;
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
