DESCRIPTION

The Financial Analyst II as part of a team, provides complete financial support primarily to the Information Technology (IT) business function. In this role there will be four key areas of support required:

EXPERIENCE

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a medium to large size company
  • An accounting designation is preferred (CMA/CGA/CPA)
  • IT background is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deliverables in a timely manner
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint), knowledge of SAP is an asset
  • Strong organizational, communication and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to comfortably interact with all levels within the organization to achieve desired results
  • Ability to prepare and present financial information in written and verbal format to non-financial individuals
  • Ability to take initiative, be a self-starter and provide value added support
  • Knowledge of the courier industry would be an asset
  • Must be a team player

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting

  • Process IT project invoices including validating against budgeted costs and capital expenditure split
  • Identify expenses that should be capitalized and prepare documentation as per the process
  • Prepare and process monthly accruals in support of Cost Centre reporting
  • Prepare in-depth monthly variance analysis to tell the story for each IT Cost Centre
  • Assist in preparation of materials and presentations for MBR, ECM, Steering Committees, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors
  • Coordinate and consolidate submissions from multiple data sources
  • Ability to prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis in a timely manner
  • Assist in preparing reports for other SGA functions as a backup

Functional

  • Support business case preparation and documentation for IT projects while providing financial and accounting perspective in preparation of funding requests
  • Assist with the evaluation and analysis of Business Cases to ensure completeness for presentation
  • Work with cost centre owners and portfolio directors to identify areas of financial risk and potential solutions to mitigate
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the IT business function processes to identify areas for improvement

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning

  • Co-ordinate and facilitate monthly forecast reviews and creation of tri-annual forecasts and following year budget for all cost centres in the IT hierarchy
  • Work closely with our IT Shared Services Partner (Innovapost) to align on the IT Operations (Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 4) plan, forecast and variance analysis to be presented back to IT leadership
  • Collaborate with the Planning team to ensure alignment with forecasting and budgeting processes and the output of these activities with the planning cycle
  • Validate and Load IT budget to SAP.

Maintenance of Process Integrity

  • Provide quarterly ICFR updates to Internal Audit on identified processes in the functional area
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of training to the broad finance team on the Investment policies and procedures
  • Streamline current reporting requirements, evaluate and implement opportunities to automate current processes and leverage the use of SAP to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Other duties required of the role
