POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in the preparation of briefing notes, analyses, reconciliations in support of the College’s financial transactions and the financial statements and the provision of financial and system advice to ensure the financial reporting requirements have been met. The incumbent will provide leadership in the facilitation of external audits, compliance with government reporting requirements, and collaboration with various stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- A four (4) year degree or equivalent in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting or a related discipline
- CPA designation (i.e. CMA, CGA) required
- A minimum of 5 years experience in an accounting, auditing, financial reporting environment
- Experience working in a post-secondary environment or a large public sector organization is a definite asset
- Knowledge of and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting principles, Public Sector Accounting Standards
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, high-volume environment with competing priorities with a high attention for detail
- Strong technical proficiency with MS Excel
- Experience with financial management tools (eg Banner, AISMartR) and ministry reporting tools (eg. CFIS) is a definite asset
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders in a highly diverse environment
- Demonstrated analytical skills to critically interpret and analyze data and identify key trends and findings
- Strong problem-solving skills to resolve financial data issues and discrepancies
- Possesses high initiative and independence of action

Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial analyses, cash projections, journal entries, reconciliations, endowment reports, year-end working papers, monthly reporting schedules to ensure accurate financial records and reporting are maintained
- Compile data for ministry reporting or other regulatory reporting requirements as needed and submit the completed reports on a timely basis
- Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and year-end financial statements and reporting packages to the Board of Governors
- Lead and facilitate the annual financial statement external audit
- Prepare projections, forecasts, capital budgets
- Support Manager, Financial Reporting in providing leadership, direction and support to team members including proactive guidance, troubleshooting support and issues escalation
- Lead and coordinate system testing and upgrades for the financial reporting team
- Provide financial support and guidance to College budget holders
- Coordinate activities relating to monthly, quarterly and year-end close with budget holders to ensure that all financial transactions have been recorded accurately and on a timely basis
- Develop process and procedures documentation
- Other duties as assigned
