Description:
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
The Genetic Sciences Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst in Austin, TX to provide support to the Austin Operations leadership team. This role will closely interact with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance VPs, using their finance expertise to guide decision making and implement operational improvement opportunities. This role would suit an individual who has a passion for decoding complex finance problems and streamlining internal processes while partnering with Operations leaders to establish a long-term strategy for the site.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Finance or Accounting
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of relevant working experience
- 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing Finance or Cost Accounting roles
- Prior experience in a large global company and highly matrixed organization
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or E1 and data warehouses such as EDW Cognos
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Proven business partner and influencer. Ability to solve complex problems with tact and resolve
- Organized multitasker: workload prioritization, enable to meet tight deadlines while achieving results, especially in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Demonstrated ability to simplify and streamline finance processes
- Highly analytical with strong business sense
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of Excel (i.e., financial models and analysis), PowerPoint, and Hyperion is preferred

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the finance representative on the Austin Operations Leadership team and leverage finance expertise to influence decision making
- Drive annual operating plan (AOP) process to establish a challenging but fair budget and set of productivity targets for the Austin Operations team
- Review monthly manufacturing variances to assess site performance, and clearly communicate drivers of performance to Austin leadership team and cross-functional group through business reviews
- Ensure product inventory is correctly valued and partner closely with cost accounting representative to execute annual cost roll
- Provide finance support and oversight for supplemental metrics such as productivity, leakage, inventory, E&O, backorder, etc
- Perform financial evaluation of capital expenditures to ensure profitable business decisions
- Identify and make recommendations that optimize business processes and reporting to improve financial performance
