DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst will assist with all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Senior Financial Analyst will work out of the Trindent head office in downtown Toronto. We are looking for a motivated individual with strong Excel skills and a background in accounting to join the team.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) is required
  • Minimum 2-3 years of post-CPA qualification experience, including experience working at a Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Working knowledge of complex accounting practices such as consolidation, intercompany eliminations, and revenue recognition under the percentage of completion method.
  • Superior working knowledge of accounting practices as applied to consolidated financial and management reporting, cash flow forecasting, financial statement analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels / departments within the organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to establish priorities with little direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and very proficient dealing with large sums of data.
  • Strong analytical skills with an aptitude for numbers and accuracy on reviews
  • Strong ability to problem-solve and to make day to day decisions related to their work.
  • Experience in a consulting firm or professional services environment an asset.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Financial Analyst will focus on the Accounting Operations and the processes within the Company. Other duties and ad hoc projects are to be completed as assigned.

  • Ownership over the full cycle financial reporting process, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end working papers. Ensure timely closing on all reporting matters.
  • Ownership over the payroll and expense reimbursement process, and process employee expense reports in accordance with company policy.
  • Ownership over the Accounts Receivable process and working with Operations Leads to ensure accuracy over revenues and invoicing
  • Assist the Vice President, Finance with all complex reporting matters, including liaising with external accounting and tax firms
  • Lead certain complex financial reporting exercises such as intercompany reconciliations, deferred revenues, commission and other accruals, and consolidation of multiple entities with different exchange rates
  • Reviewing and updating all General Ledger accounts where necessary.
  • Prepare and/or review all monthly journal entries and ensure all necessary documentation support journal entries and general ledger balances.
  • Manage all government reporting and remittance obligations.
  • Comply with all local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Ensure the preparation of and filing of mandatory government reporting deadlines are met (i.e., Corporate, sales and payroll, taxes, etc.).
  • Assist with the financial planning, forecasting, budgeting processes and variance analysis.
  • Oversee financial controls to monitor accuracy of financial information/ reports and workflows.
  • Monitor, and enforce Risk Control policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Implement process improvement to maximize business savings and quality controls.
  • Participate in business decisions to support the development of business objectives.
