Smith+Nephew is hiring Senior Financial Reporting Accountant.
The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant ensures high-quality, timely financial reporting for group, management, and statutory purposes. This role guarantees compliance with IFRS and local statutory laws, while also advising on complex transactions to align with internal policies and external regulations. The role proactively monitors changes in accounting rules and laws, ensuring the Business Unit remains compliant. Additionally, the Senior Accountant supports statutory and tax compliance, while overseeing the execution of R2R activities in line with S&N MAP and SOx control frameworks.

What you will be doing?

  • Coordinate statutory tasks for the Spanish entity, including tax payments and submissions, with external consultant support.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and manage internal and external audits with the Iberia Country Controller.
  • Lead month-end activities, enhancing account reconciliations and identifying risks and improvement areas.
  • Resolve ad-hoc accounting queries and provide variance explanations to the Group Accounting Team.
  • Support budget uploads and propose system improvements and automation.
  • Prepare and execute internal control activities, ensuring compliance with regulations.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Master’s degree in Economics or Finance.
  • 8+ years of experience, preferably in Financial Reporting.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian is a plus.
  • SAP experience required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with the team.
  • Decision-making ability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrating care and support for team members.
