Aviva Canada looking for a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst interested in joining the Reinsurance team within the Finance department. The applicant will work in a dynamic environment and will gain exposure across financial and regulatory reporting, audit support and reinsurance disciplines. A successful candidate must have the following:

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in preparation of financial statements and regulatory reports, P&C1 Reporting / schedules and timely filing to our Regulator working with Manager of Reinsurance.
  • Provide internal and external audit support.
  • Support month-end processes and prepare financial reporting packages.
  • Analyze and set up reinsurance accounting processes for Aviva’s reinsurance businesses alongside Manager of Reinsurance.
  • Review, reconcile and post accounting journal entries to record the financial impacts of the relevant reinsurance agreements.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, account aging reports and other ad-hoc reports.
  • Prepare trend analysis on proportional reinsurance treaties.
  • Prepare and submit manual ceded loss development data to Actuary for IBNR purposes.
  • Support enhancements to internal process improvements.
  • Take part in cross training of other analysts in our Reinsurance team. Participate in reinsurance projects as assigned.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other divisions and functions.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A University degree with a business / accounting major or a college diploma in business / accounting major. Professional accounting close to completing or completed designation: CPA, CA or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of financial reporting experience following OFSI requirements and standards. Experience in financial accounting process and knowledge in preparation of financial statements and regulatory returns.
  • Ability to work optimally with others in building team relations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills in resolving discrepancies. Detail oriented and methodical. Accurate in analysis of invoices and preparation of financial reports and schedules.
  • Effective time management and organization skills to promptly meet timelines and incorporate work assignments.
  • Knowledge in interpreting reinsurance agreements and enforcing the application of the terms of the agreement is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel are required. Solid understanding of Oracle General Ledger desired. Proficiency in PBCS/Blackline/MINDs/Qlik would be considered an asset.

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $54,500 - $101,100. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
