SUMMARY :

This individual provides research and development services for company’s frozen sweet goods’ category. The scope of this role expands over most of the facets of R&D including, but not limited to product development, commercialization, and plant support.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Food R&D. Previous experience with bakery, confectionery, sweet goods will be a plus.
  • Minimum, Bachelor of Science (Food Science, Chemistry, Biological or related) or Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Biological or related) required.
  • Experience with commercializing products on new and existing manufacturing lines is highly desirable.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Creative, go-getter and collaborative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Flexibility to adapt to ever changing dynamics of the industry, as well as the organization which strives for continuous improvement of its products and processes.
  • Infectious enthusiasm and commitment to adapt to organization’s mission of becoming World’s Greatest Baker.
  • Required to work in Laboratory, Production floor and Office/desk.
  • Normally daytime working hours, but occasionally required to work in off-shifts and/or weekends.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Up to 25% travel within plants in Greater Toronto Area.

Responsibilities:

  • Work cross functionally to develop products and build processes for new innovations.
  • Support/Manage/Lead projects entailing new product development, renovation, productivity and business continuity initiatives.
  • Support/Lead commercialization of products and ensure post launch quality of products is maintained and/or improved.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure any change in regards to Bill of Materials, Line Standards, and Formulations etc. is managed flawlessly through established procedures.
  • Learn and adhere to company’s innovative Product Lifecycle Management program; as well learn and utilize other technical tools as required for the role.
  • Ensure that technical knowledge of the baking industry is continually upgraded with emphasis being placed on processes, products, and ingredients.
  • Adhere to plant safety policies and communicate any safety issues to the appropriate personnel.
