Groupe Marcelle is currently looking for a Senior Formulator for a permanent full-time position.
The Senior Formulator is responsible for developing formulas for new products and reformulation projects. The Senior Formulator works autonomously to create and evaluate formulas according to Groupe Marcelle marketing briefs and quality standards. She/he also ensures the progress of formulas, including those of her/his subordinates, in compliance with the technical requirements of R&D, from the laboratory to testing and pilot production.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing batches for various tests including stability, micro, tolerance, and efficacy assessments as well as creating product samples for testing and marketing purposes, such as compatibility, clinical trials, consumer feedback, and presentations at trade shows and sales meetings.
  • Monitoring product stability and compatibility through physicochemical and organoleptic evaluations, pH testing, density and viscosity measurements, etc.
  • Prepare stability/compatibility reports.
  • Determine batch specifications and review manufacturing procedures.
  • Participate in brand strategy meetings.
  • Meet with raw material suppliers and communicate with them on project progress.
  • Propose new ideas, claims and technologies to the marketing department to contribute to the development of the marketing plan.
  • Propose assets and create new formulas based on marketing briefings/references.
  • Prepare and evaluate color matches.
  • Collaborate with regulatory department to ensure formula compliance.
  • Research, read and understand scientific and supplier literature.
  • Participate in cosmetics industry and supplier seminars.
  • Support marketing in the development of product stories and claims.
  • Assemble and validate necessary product documentation (stability reports, micro-reports, clinical reports, claim substantiation, ingredient lists).
  • Reformulate existing products following raw material discontinuations or change requests.
  • Ensure that reformulation of existing products meets R&D requirements.
