Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Senior Formwork Designer or a Formwork Designer to produce design solutions and material lists that represent the most efficient and safe use of Doka equipment for the site team. They provide technical assistance to the customer from the preliminary stage of a project to its completion, in collaboration with the sales and operations personnel.
- Develop technical solutions, but also work well within project teams.
- Show an active interest in helping develop the skills of your peers and the willingness to support the checking of their work.
- Communicate effectively with your colleagues across all departments and confidently interact with customers throughout all phases of a project.
- Produce AutoCAD drawings using the Doka Formwork systems during the proposal stage and finalize the working drawings to be used for actual jobsite.
- Provide material lists for quotations to sales/customer and to operations for shipments to the site.
- Produce and insure that the drawings indicate the proper use of Doka forming equipment and that the drawings represent safe, economical and efficient designs.
- Independently produce formal calculations for customer approval.
- Have an interest in developing efficiencies within the Engineering Department and take a proactive approach of seeking responsibilities where opportunities arise.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical education, preferable a qualification in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Good knowledge in AutoCAD 2D, an interest in BIM and/or experience in 3D would be beneficial
- Minimum 5 years formwork design experience, preferably within the civil engineering/infrastructure sector.
- Experience with designing formwork for Heavy Civil Engineering and / or road and rail applications would be beneficial.
- Detailed knowledge of construction methods and competencies in interpreting client drawings and design briefs
- Experience working on major projects and achieving challenging deadlines. Knowledge of formwork planning and coordination would be advantageous.
- A strong statics knowledge would be preferred.
- Strong frame analysis knowledge is added advantage.
- Experience of checking other designers work.
- A good understanding of health and safety and designing out risks.
- Knowledge of method statements and design risk assessments
- Ability to communicate professionally to clients and internal stake holders while providing the best solutions for both parties
- A good listener and ability to diagnose client requirements
- Able to work independently and as a team player in a results-driven, fast-paced environment
- Hands-on mentality and engaged personality, confident attitude
