YOU SHOULD KNOW:
- This is a full-time, permanent position.
- Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Work on weekends or after business hours may be required (based on client demands and requirements).
- Candidate MUST be local to Ottawa.
- This is a Hybrid work role. Expect to work remotely as well as in the office as scheduled.
- We need you to be eligible for a security clearance. This is essential.
- You must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for work.
- You will be required to participate in the on-call schedule.
MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of L3 work experience with Fortinet Products – specifically Fortigate, FortiAP’s and FortiSwitches.
- Fortinet NSE 4 – NSE 8 Certification
- Work experience with Microsoft Server 2016 and >
- Office 365 experience
- Azure experience

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting directly to the Service Manager, the Senior Fortinet Engineer utilizes their expert technical knowledge to support, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot our clients’ most advanced technical challenges. From consulting and delivering complex cloud solutions to monitoring network security, you will work alongside a talented and innovative team to successfully implement solutions for our small to mid-sized clients. We are looking for someone who is hands-on, is passionate, demonstrates ownership and finds motivation in solving problems and delivering excellent customer service. Because this is a dynamic role with varied responsibilities, candidates must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and independently managing multiple conflicting priorities concurrently.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a Fortinet Technical Support Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and support of Fortinet products for our clients. You will be responsible for:
MAIN DUTIES:
- Support tasks and solutions related to Fortinet network products.
- Design and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for migrations, upgrades, and updates.
- Make plans for testing new features and updates, and then test them.
- Verifying configurations and implementation best practices.
- Test devices that connect with Fortinet products to ensure they work together.
- Provide internal training and knowledge sharing.
- Maintains expertise in Fortinet’s products and technologies.
SPECIFIC TASKS:
- Manage, secure, and monitor SMB client TCP/IP networks (i.e., WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, etc.)
- Fix advanced problems with Fortinet products: Fortigate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP’s.
- Assisting team with day-to-day Fortinet product operations and support.
- Conducting interoperability evaluations of devices that interact with Fortinet products.
- Ensure the ongoing improvement and implementation of Cyber Security best practices and compliance.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support for critical incidents when required.
- Work closely with the other following technologies:
- Server 2016/2019.
- Exchange 2016/2019.
- Azure.
- Active Directory/DNS/Group Policy/PowerShell.
- Office 365.
- Mobility.
- Networking.
