SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Significant experience within commercial frontend development teams.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES6), and understanding of semantic, WIA-ARIA decorated markup.
• Advanced knowledge of CSS pre-processing (e.g., Sass, LESS, Stylus) and modular architecture approaches like BEM, OOCSS.
• Solid understanding and experience of modern frontend build tooling (e.g., npm, gulp, webpack, Babel).
• Experience with frontend frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular.
• Knowledge of XHR/AJAX, libraries like AXIOS, and utilization of Git version control.
• Understanding of responsive design, mobile web development, performance optimization, accessibility, and sustainability.
• Familiarity with digital experience platforms (e.g., Optimizely, Adobe, Sitecore, Umbraco).

IDEAL SKILLS

• Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
• Experience with design systems and component-based pattern libraries.
• Familiarity with project management tools like JIRA.
• Basic CSS/JavaScript-based animation experience.
• Application of accessibility auditing tools.
• Writing and applying JavaScript unit tests.
• Familiarity with build and deployment tools such as Azure DevOps or TeamCity and Octopus.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft technology stack (e.g., MVC, .net framework, .net core, C#).
• Experience working with headless content management systems, such as Contentful, Sanity.io Contentstack or Kontent.ai

YOUR ROLE

As a Senior Frontend Developer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving our frontend development efforts. You will lead frontend efforts on client projects, develop departmental direction, and mentor or line manage more junior team members. From the initial pitch process and project estimations to delivery and continuous improvement, you will ensure performance, accessibility, sustainability, and best practices are at the core of all the work you deliver.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead frontend development on projects, serving as the primary point of contact on frontend matters.
• Maintain and progress standards of frontend development, demonstrating disciplined alignment to internal coding standards and technology stack.
• Administer frontend pull requests and provide peer code reviews.
• Estimate frontend work to feed into sales proposals.
• Collaborate with the experience design team to provide consultation and input at all stages of design and delivery.
• Represent frontend development in client meetings and agile ceremonies.
• Stay updated with web standards and suggest new technologies and ways of working.
