Description:

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • Must have a valid Driver License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
  • Position is Hybrid/Remote, but you must reside in Charlotte area
  • Education requirement for this individual contributor role is: BA/BS Degree
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in non-profit development or professional workplace environment with at least 2 year cultivating gifts of $5,000.00 or more or outside sales experience preferred
  • Sound analytical skills and above average computer knowledge;
  • Ability to verbally communicate mission and vision of programs at a high level upon start date.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Sales Experience a plus, but not required

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE:

To secure restricted/unrestricted funds for Thompson Child & Family Focus, by managing a group of assigned, qualified donors assuring as many as possible are retained as continuing donors to the Agency and identifying, stewarding, and cultivating new donors into the database. Gift focus will be consistent with voluntary income goals of the Agency and primarily focused on solicitation of gifts of at least $5,000.00. New or recaptured donor gifts will focus on levels of $5,000.00+

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a portfolio of 150-200 major gift donors and prospective donors, cultivating and facilitating strong, ongoing relationships with individuals who support Thompson’s mission.
  • Responsible for a minimum of $1,000,000.00 in revenue, including but not limited to, cash and monetary gifts, in-kind giving, unrestricted and restricted gifts, and legacy/trust/planned gifts.
  • In partnership with Development team members, identify 25-50 new prospective donors capable of making major gifts and design cultivation strategies to engage them, and/or Lapsed donors recaptured into active donor group.
  • Create individual goals for each person in his or her portfolio based on the donor’s history of giving and the Agency’s knowledge of that donor’s potential.
  • Create and execute a plan for each donor that will serve as a foundational communication and cultivation plan for each person in the portfolio so individuals in the portfolio are retained and upgraded.
  • Design and implement effective solicitation strategies, managing leadership prospect relationships to enhance first-time, continued or increased monetary support, with oversight by the VP of Development.
  • Work with all community funded Program leaders to secure needed project information, including budgets, to create offers, proposals and asks that will be used to secure gifts.
  • Actively engage and support a range of individuals including those on Thompson’s Executive Team, Board of Trustees, Resource Development staff and other key individuals to aid in major/ restricted giving cultivation and solicitation activity.
  • Travel as needed for personal contact with prospective and current donors.
  • Document all contacts in database and prepare appropriate follow-up.
  • Identify, manage, solicit, and secure all Corporate Gifts beginning at a minimum of $5,000.00
  • With Community Engagement Manager and Chief Development Officer, prepare and execute any corporate and community engagement events with partners that give more than $5,000.00
