EXPOSURE & EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Building & Energy Class G Gasfitting Permit
  • Building & Energy Class I Gasfitting Permit
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Extensive technical knowledge of gas industry regulations and Australian Standards related to industrial, commercial, and domestic gas installations
  • Proven experience in incident investigation and report writing
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

Preferred:

  • Building & Energy Designation as an Inspector (Gas)
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

ATCO Gas Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Gas Utilisation Inspector to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting Class-I gasfitting inspections on consumer installations, leading investigations, and ensuring compliance with gas installation standards and regulatory obligations. Your technical expertise and strong communication skills will be pivotal in collaborating with contractors, customers, and internal teams to ensure safe and optimal outcomes.
This role is based in Jandakot, with regular travel to Perth and regional areas of Western Australia. You will play a key role in gas incident investigations, reporting breaches, and providing expert technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct Class-I gasfitting inspections on new and existing gas installations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead investigations into gas incidents, gas fitter-related breaches, and non-compliant installations, producing detailed reports within required timeframes.
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors and internal teams on gas distribution projects, fault finding, and problem-solving issues related to gas installations.
  • Foster relationships and collaborate with contractors, consultants, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to achieve safe and optimal gas utilisation outcomes.
  • Represent ATCO Gas Australia in consultations with Building & Energy on gas installation regulations and industry-related issues.
  • Deliver training sessions and awareness packages to both internal teams and external stakeholders, such as TAFE/RTO apprentices, on gas safety and installation standards.
