Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in geoscience with a strong focus on data analysis and modeling. Demonstrable experience applying data science and machine learning techniques to geological problems.
- Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Geoscience, Geostatistics, or related field, with a strong background in data science and analytics. Additional qualifications in data science or machine learning are highly valued.
- Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of geological processes and mineral exploration techniques.
- Strong proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, machine learning, and geospatial modeling.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data analysis.
- Expertise in applying machine learning and statistical techniques to geoscientific data.
- Proficiency in 3D geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, GOCAD).
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies for large-scale data processing.
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques for complex geospatial data.
- Knowledge of remote sensing data analysis and interpretation.
- Additional qualifications in cloud computing, machine learning, or data engineering are highly valued.

ABOUT THE ROLE
VRIFY is seeking an exceptional Senior Geodata Scientist to lead our efforts in extracting valuable insights from complex geoscientific datasets. This pivotal role will bridge the gap between traditional geoscience and cutting-edge data science, driving innovation in mineral exploration through advanced analytics and machine learning techniques. You will be instrumental in developing novel approaches to analyze and interpret geological, geophysical, and geochemical data, ultimately enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of mineral exploration processes. Working closely with our Director of R&D, you will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing our comprehensive geodata strategy, ensuring that VRIFY remains at the forefront of data-driven mineral exploration and geospatial analytics.
As a Senior Geodata Scientist, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, data engineers, and machine learning experts, to develop innovative solutions that unlock hidden potential in geological data. Your unique blend of geoscientific knowledge and data science expertise will be crucial in positioning VRIFY at the forefront of data-driven mineral exploration. You will lead efforts in creating advanced predictive models, implementing cutting-edge geospatial analysis techniques, and developing novel data visualization methods to communicate complex geological insights. By fostering a culture of scientific excellence and promoting interdisciplinary approaches, you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing the depth and breadth of our geoscientific understanding. Your leadership will drive the adoption of emerging technologies in geoscience, guide the development of innovative exploration methodologies, and inspire groundbreaking approaches to solving complex geological problems using data-driven techniques.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Geospatial Data Analysis: Lead the development and implementation of advanced geospatial analysis techniques to extract meaningful patterns and insights from complex geological datasets.
- Machine Learning for Geoscience: Design and develop machine learning models tailored to geoscientific problems, such as mineral prospectivity mapping, geological maps, and geophysical data interpretation.
- Data Integration: Develop methodologies to integrate diverse geoscientific data types (e.g., geological, geophysical, geochemical, remote sensing) for comprehensive analysis and visualization.
- Predictive Modeling: Create and validate predictive models for mineral deposit targeting, alteration mapping, and future applications.
- Research & Innovation: Stay at the forefront of geodata science advancements, conducting research and implementing novel techniques relevant to mineral exploration.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration: Guide and mentor junior geodata scientists and collaborate closely with geologists, data engineers, and machine learning experts to drive project success.
- Client Engagement: Communicate complex geological and data science concepts to clients, helping them understand and leverage VRIFY’s innovative solutions.
- Data Quality & Governance: Establish and maintain standards for geoscientific data quality, ensuring the integrity and reliability of analyses and models.
