Headquartered in Houston, TX GLDD has more than 200 pieces of dredging plant located strategically throughout North America and in various locations throughout the world. We are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or its foreign equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in or with Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Other experience and skills must include:
  • Geotechnical sampling and investigations.
  • Evaluation of geotechnical data and reports to assess ground conditions at a project site.
  • Geotechnical quality assurance requirements and capabilities of coastal dredging operations.
  • Supervisory experience overseeing field site investigations.
  • Offshore ground investigation experience.
  • Experience with large construction projects and large geotechnical data sets.
  • Understanding of soils in relation to dredging performance.
  • Experience with dredged material behavior after disposal.
  • Supporting bids and ongoing project execution with soil analyses
  • Domestic travel to unanticipated U.S. company worksite locations required 100% of the time.
  • Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and evaluate geotechnical testing, including offshore and onshore soil investigations, environmental monitoring, and reclamation testing.
  • Track and analyze geotechnical conditions for ongoing projects.
  • Perform geotechnical analysis of dredging projects during the bid phase for use by company engineers, cost estimators, and management, specifically by evaluating and summarizing client-supplied subsurface data, creating geotechnical profiles and cross-sections for company staff to understand ground conditions, and creating final ground conditions report summarizing salient features of the subsurface and their impact on dredging.
  • Track and analyze geotechnical conditions for ongoing projects, including implementing new geotechnical job tracking processes, training site engineers in geotechnical sample collection processes, coordinating with active jobsites to implement required testing, and integrating job tracking into new global geotechnical information system.
  • Plan and supervise field site investigations, work with local laboratories to develop and maintain relationships, and actively participate in the bidding process by attending bid meetings to ensure proper understanding of ground conditions.
