Job description
Accuenergy is a Toronto-based company dedicated to research, design and manufacturing of multifunction power meters and other instruments. We also provide advanced technological solutions for distribution and industrial power system automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Lead the development of hardware architecture, schematics, and PCB layouts for electric meters, ensuring integration of analog, digital, and power circuits.
  • Component Selection: Analyze, evaluate, and select electronic components for optimal performance, power efficiency, and cost.
  • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration between hardware, firmware, and software, focusing on ADC/IO management, power management, communication interfaces (Ethernet, RS485, Modbus), and display systems.
  • Compliance & Certification: Ensure designs meet international standards for accuracy, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and safety, including ANSI C12, IEC 62052/53, UL, and MID.
  • Testing & Validation: Develop and execute validation plans, including electrical and environmental testing, reliability analysis, and field testing for durability and accuracy.
  • Project Leadership: Collaborate with project managers, mechanical engineers, and software teams to deliver projects on time and within budget. Mentor junior engineers in the team.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including BOMs, test plans, and design reports.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with technological trends and improvements in electric metering hardware and recommend innovative approaches to product designs.

Candidate should have the following knowledge/skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 7 years of hardware design experience, preferably in electric metering or a similar field.
  • Experience with microcontroller (e.g., STM32) and DSP-based designs.
  • Familiarity with analog front-end design, especially for electric metering.
  • Proven experience with high-accuracy ADCs and digital filtering.

Preferred Requirements

  • Proficiency in EDA tools (e.g., Altium) for SCH and PCB design.
  • Expertise in high-speed circuit design, signal integrity, and noise reduction.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC design and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of UL and IEC standards for safety and compliance.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions.
