Description:

Substantive Band 4 Senior Health Care Assistant - CAMHS Eating Disorder Intensive Treatment Day Service (JD subject to evaluation)
We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Senior Health Care Assistant to join our Young Persons Eating Disorder Day Service (Springtide).
Based at Aldrington House (Hove) Springtide is a new provision following increased investment into the Eating Disorder pathway across Sussex, accepting referrals from across Sussex.
The clinical model is based on the highly acclaimed Maudsley Intensive Treatment programme to offer support for 10 young people each day.
Springtide provides an intensive group program for young people with an Eating Disorder diagnosis aged from 11-18 years of age. The program provides treatment for those with Anorexia Nervosa/ Bulimia Nervosa and Atypical Anorexia Nervosa and supports recovery through Evidence Based Interventions.

REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be a Practitioner in our team you require the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Associate Practitioner Qualification / NVQ Level 3 or willing to work towards qualification
  • Care Certificate completed or willingness to complete
  • Comfortable in providing intervention and treatment for young people with eating disorders

KNOWLEDGE OF AND ABILITY TO USE:

  • Microsoft word
  • Excel
  • Willing to extend computer skills and use specialist programmes

Responsibilities:

MAIN DUTIES:

  • To establish and maintain empathic, supportive relationships with people in distress, their families and carers.
  • To receive, understand and communicate confidential client information of a sensitive and often complex nature, including discussing care with family members, within boundaries of confidentiality.
  • To communicate in a sensitive reassuring manner, with empathy.
  • To liaise with other teams and services including external agencies as required for the wellbeing of patients.
  • To concentrate on specific activities for up to an hour at a time.
  • To manage conflicting demands in an unpredictable work pattern.
  • To work flexibly and adapt to each person as appropriate to their needs in a variety of settings.
  • To be an active participant in the multi-disciplinary team, formulating care plans and utilising appropriate assessments.
  • To ensure that all those open to the team have an individual risk assessment and care plan which has been created collaboratively.
  • To monitor, evaluate and modify interventions/treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention(s).
  • To provide care group specific specialised range of clinical interventions and knowledge of evidence-based models of practice.
  • To work autonomously, competently and safely with the utilisation of supervision and the expertise of colleagues as required.
  • To work in partnership with other agencies to gain the best person-centred interventions.
