You will be responsible for providing a range of personalised care for patients and a range of clinical duties under the guidance and supervision of the nurse in charge including: chaperone in clinical consultation and assessments, assisting patients during clinical review, moving and handling, use of mobility appliances, correct patient positioning, carrying out simple wound assessment and dressings to include skin integrity, ensuring patient safety, taking specimens including blood sugars.
You will be taking and recording physical measurements, carrying out blood pressure monitoring, safe transfer of biopsies, Fine Needle Aspirations and wound swabs to the Pathology Lab. Be actively involved with weekly audits. To support clinical activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
You will always act in a manner that upholds the Trust values working as part of the breast unit team to ensure that patients and relatives receive excellent care with compassion.
✅ Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards.
Take samples from patients or dispatch to Pathology Lab (e.g., blood sugars, biopsies, FNA’s, wound swabs).
‍ ️ Undertake clinical duties relevant to the clinical area following achievement of competencies.
️ Assist in maintaining patient safety, conforming to health, safety, and security legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting, and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and productive care environment, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
Maintain and develop your own competence.
The Senior Health Care Assistant role is part of the Breast Cancer Multi Disciplinary Team. You will be part of an experienced breast team who are passionate about providing innovative, personalised care and support interventions for patients diagnosed with breast cancer.
