Senior Heroku Developer (PostgreSQL)

Project Overview: We are seeking a Senior Heroku Developer with extensive experience in PostgreSQL to join our team on a contract basis for 700 hours. You will be supporting an ongoing project with Janney, and your expertise in Heroku and PostgreSQL will be crucial to our success. This is an opportunity to contribute to a significant initiative and be part of a dynamic, collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Heroku Development: Lead the development and deployment of applications on the Heroku platform, ensuring scalable, reliable, and efficient environments.
• Database Management: Design, manage, and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and indexing for performance improvement.
• Application Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure applications and databases are optimized for performance and scalability on Heroku.
• API Integration: Work on integrating various third-party services and APIs into Heroku applications, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to Heroku environments and PostgreSQL databases, including performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and data integrity concerns.
• Automation: Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments, backups, monitoring, and scaling of Heroku applications.
• Security Best Practices: Ensure that the Heroku environments and PostgreSQL databases are secure and comply with industry best practices for data security.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, and other developers to deliver solutions on time and within the project scope.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• 5+ years of experience with Heroku platform, including application development and deployment.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL database design, management, and performance tuning.
• Proven experience with API integrations and microservices architecture on Heroku.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices on Heroku.
• Experience with cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Proficient in programming languages commonly used with Heroku, such as Python, Ruby, Node.js, or Java.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience with financial services platforms.
• Knowledge of Heroku Connect and integrating Salesforce with Heroku.
• Experience with Heroku Enterprise features, such as Private Spaces and Shield.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
