Position Overview
As part of our Vancouver HR team, the HR Business Partner will provide core HR support (employee relations, talent acquisition, policies and procedures development, compliance, talent development, succession planning, compensation, employee engagement, etc.) to assigned business units that operate within a combined North American and International presence. We are looking for an individual who has the technical skills and is ready to take the next step in their career to revaluate our current processes and develop new processes, policies, procedures and structure within the HR function as our organization transforms.

Job Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Partner with people leaders at the Vancouver site (Corporate HQ) and within the international client group to understand business goals and develop HR strategies that support those objectives.
  • Lead the implementation of HR programs, services, processes, and procedures to align with the evolving needs of the business units.
  • Build partnerships with Site Leaders within the assigned business units to understand operational goals and needs
  • Act as a trusted advisor to management on all HR-related matters.
  • Track, record and analyze data as it pertains to workforce requirements, produce HR metrics, ESG programs and reports
  • Work in collaboration with international HR Business partners in development and delivering global HR initiatives

Compensation

  • Lead compensation survey participation for NA (i.e. summarizing data, reviewing submissions for relevance, etc.)
  • Support in compensation reviews for applicable client groups, including promotions/transitions, bonus and annual merit administration, and distribution of employee letters

Recruitment & Selection

  • Partner with hiring managers to thoroughly understand position requirements, including knowledge, skills and abilities required for the role and team
  • Develop recruitment strategies to attract talent and stay on top of market trends
  • Full cycle recruitment and selection; post openings, conduct candidate phone screens, interviews, manage meeting logistics, travel, background checks, references, shortlists and offer strategies

Employee & Manager Relations

  • Provide guidance to both managers and employees on employee-related issues, resolving in an effective and timely manner
  • Inform, train and support managers on various talent management activities and HR programs; evaluate team structures, skill sets and advise managers on opportunities to strengthen their team’s capabilities while developing individual team members
  • Support and oversee employment contract changes, transfers and re-organizations within departments
  • Partner with managers in the execution of annual performance management cycles, merit reviews, employee recognition programs
  • Tracking and addressing performance issues and resolving in a timely manner; provide guidance on discipline processes, procedures and terminations

Miscellaneous

  • Responsible for the implementation of efficient, effective tools and technology to support the Human Resources function in order to provide exceptional customer service
  • Assist with managing procedures to meet Integrated Management System (IMS) and ISO compliance
  • Other HR projects as required

What we are looking for

PROFILE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6+ years progressive generalist experience in HR, preferably with as STEM focused organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
  • CPHR designation or working toward is preferred
  • Hands-on experience in the area of Compensation
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients at all levels of the organization and influence decisions.
  • Solid business acumen to align both business objectives and HR strategies with business unit goals
  • Collaborative team player with demonstrated professional and emotional maturity and judgment to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy, tact and high ethical standards
  • Strong ability to effectively perform in a complex, high change environment while being a positive steward for the business
  • Advanced excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) is preferred
  • **Good proficiency in Italian Language (verbal and written) is an asset

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Excellent organizational, follow-through and workload planning skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities while adhering to either hard or soft deadlines
  • Mindset for a dynamic work environment balancing between strategic, tactical and operational matters
  • Excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills in establishing strategies and resolving HR matters
  • Effective, clear and precise verbal and written communication skills
