Morgan State University Office of Human Resources (OHR) invites you to join our team. OHR is preparing to execute President Wilson’s strategic plan: Transformation Morgan 2030: Leading the Future. We are looking for collaborative, innovative, and service-oriented professionals to help reimagine OHR to reflect the services of a 21st-century department that can serve the University and attract, develop, and retain its desired workforce.
The Senior HR Generalist for Academic Affairs will be responsible for supporting human resources strategic initiatives in the Division of Academic Affairs. The Sr. Human Resources Generalist, Academic Affairs primary functions include assigned non-faculty employee relations cases, HR related faculty credentialing, international faculty/staff hiring, the faculty offboarding process, faculty data integrity audit and oversight of faculty data including data input, and high-level special projects as assigned by the Director of HR, Academic Affairs. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, Academic Affairs this position anticipates and assesses human resources related needs, contributes to workforce planning efforts, serves as a point of contact for clarifying and interpreting, and answering questions about human resources related policy and procedures.
The Sr. HR Generalist, Academic Affairs forms partnerships across the Division of Academic Affairs and communicates effectively with deans, department chairs, faculty and staff and works collaboratively and builds trust to support the strategic plan of the University.

EDUCATION:

The successful Candidate must have achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management and Development, Psychology, Organizational Development, Data Analytics, English, Business Administration or a closely related field required from an accredited university.

EXPERIENCE:

At least five years of human resources experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate employment sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, recruitment best practices, and federal and state employment laws
  • Strong knowledge of organizational development theory and practices
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills of utilizing workforce dashboards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HRMS related software
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and diverse environment
  • Excellent verbal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills with an attention to detail

Responsibilities:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary duties & responsibilities works with assigned non-faculty employee relations cases within the Division of Academic Affairs
  • Audits and confirms the integrity of all faculty data in conjunction with HRIS especially new hire faculty and liaises with department chairs to ensure ongoing integrity of faculty data
  • Maintains and audits faculty data oversight in HRMS for faculty sabbaticals, leave of absencewith/without pay and other faculty designations
  • Manages and oversees all faculty personnel action forms (PAF) and ensures integrity to updateof faculty data
  • Works closely with the Office of International Affairs with H-1B, EB-1B, J-1, and OPT visa forinternational faculty including preparing offer letters for visa petitions with USCIS
  • Oversees all reporting requirements and responsibilities related to the retention of international faculty
  • Oversees the faculty offboarding process, maintains data and makes recommendations forimprovement
  • Works closely with the SGAP committee for HR representation and presentations
  • Works closely with the Payroll office regarding all faculty inquiries relative to pay
  • Researches and designs standard operating procedures for HR faculty business processes within HR, Academic Affairs
  • Drives the development and implementation of a comprehensive human resources training for department chairs
  • Completes research, benchmark reports, and develops and implements Standard OperatingProcedures working closely with the Director of HR, Academic Affairs
  • Designs and manages surveys that support an efficient faculty hiring process and organizational development initiatives and disseminates results appropriately
  • Works closely with the Director of HR, Academic Affairs on special projects and assignments
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations,and recommends best practices
  • Analyzes human resources related trends in Academic Affairs and provides metrics inpartnership with human resources to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
