THE JOB ITSELF

We have a fantastic opportunity for forward thinking HR professionals to join our progressive People Services team to support the delivery of the council’s people strategy and play a pivotal role in the effective delivery of People Services functions.
You will be a credible, positive and proactive HR practitioner with excellent influencing skills and a good track record of making a positive difference. Working with our leaders and managers, providing generalist HR support with critical HR interventions to enable them to achieve their objectives.
You should have a relevant professional qualification at degree level and/or demonstrable experience at a comparable level within a related professional field of expertise. You will have demonstrable broad-based experience in a large unionised, multi-faceted organisation of supporting managers at a senior level with restructures, discipline, grievance, harassment, attendance and capability issues. In addition, you must be able to interpret employment legislation, policies and procedures and advise on more complex human resource issues such as potential TUPE transfers and redundancy processes.
The role will involve working with stakeholders across the council maintaining continuous improvement and efficiencies. You will be expected to provide generalist HR support, providing managers with critical people interventions to enable them to achieve their objectives and supporting the development of a skilled, diverse and inclusive workforce by promoting equality, diversity and inclusion. This role will also play a pivotal role in helping to deliver the Council’s transformation programme, and on the continued implementation of its Total Pay and Reward Strategy.
The successful candidate should be a strong communicator and have the ability to interpret legislative practice to implement employment solutions whilst ensuring we deliver our service effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.

Blended working is available with a mixture of working from home and within the office, which is located at County Hall Beverley. The role also involves ad hoc travel to various sites across the East Riding.
