Kardium has a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market: The Globe® Pulsed Field System. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.
We are seeking a Senior Human Factors Analyst to help drive assessment, product design, and use improvements by facilitating human factors testing of the product in pre-clinical and clinical settings. This is a very exciting time to join the company - we are currently completing clinical trials and preparing for FDA approval for commercial use.
Preference for this position will be a hybrid work arrangement located in Burnaby, BC, but we are open to considering remote work arrangements.
Meaningful work you will be a part of
As a Senior Human Factors Analyst, you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary engineering team, working across the clinical, electrical, software, mechanical, and risk management domains. Your daily activities will center around supporting human factors activities and becoming a system-level domain expert who contributes to human factors-related design and development activities. You will use your human factors expertise and focus on safety and usability to inform product design decisions and to generate validation evidence to support regulatory submissions.

You are suited to our approach and have the following skills and experience:

  • BS/BA or MSc in Human Factors Engineering (HFE), Cognitive Science, Psychology, Industrial Design, Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience with Human Factors Engineering /Usability activities and best practices.
  • Experience conducting summative usability testing to support FDA requirements is desirable.
  • Familiarity with human factors analysis methods, such as contextual inquiry, task analysis, task flow analysis, root cause analysis, heuristic usability reviews, use related risk analysis.
  • Experience planning and executing formal and informal usability testing of hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with User Centered User Interface design processes.
  • Experience working in safety critical industries in regulated environments is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Human Factors Engineering standards such as IEC 62366, FDA Human Factors Guidance, or Human Factors design standards from other safety critical industries

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute formative and summative Human Factors usability testing to meet FDA regulatory requirements.
  • Draft Human Factors documents such as Test Protocols and Human Factors Engineering reports
  • Conduct formal and informal hardware and software usability testing as input to the design and development process.
  • Use your knowledge of Human Factors Analysis techniques to interpret user needs, assess risk impact, and provide input into product design.
  • Conduct human factors research with end users including physicians and other healthcare workers.
  • Provide expert usability input to design decisions based on usability testing and user feedback.

Compensation
Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted.

As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium’s stock option plan.

  • $92,000 - $130,000 (CAD Annually)
