ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a bilingual Senior HR Consultant to join our national HR Claims Team!
As a Senior Human Resources Consultant, you will provide strategic consulting and coaching to executives and leadership teams who manage a team of professionals in shared services (approximately 300 people) spanned across Canada in Corporate Claims. Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, Corporate and Atlantic Claims (located in Calgary), you will be a member of a national HR team and will contribute equally as a team member and an individual by providing strategic HR solutions to your business partners. In this position, you will also have an opportunity to be involved in project work and presentations where you will mentor fellow HR colleagues. This is truly a unique and exciting opportunity for an HR professional who would like to take their consulting knowledge and expertise to the next level in the largest line of business at Intact!
This position is full time permanent employment opportunity based in our Montreal office, and occasional travel would be required with notice.

We’re looking for you to join our team if you are:

  • Business Savvy: You believe in collaboration, know how to build relationships, influence and coach while working towards the company goals and objectives. Are strategic by nature and thrive in an ever- changing environment
  • A Team Player: You believe that together everyone achieves more — that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You rely on others’ candid feedback for continuous improvement. Skilled at collaboration, you thrive at working independently while building strong, remote relationships with national HR team members in our other locations.
  • Adaptable: You have the ability to juggle multiple priorities and change focus at a moment’s notice while keeping a close eye on the details
  • A Fast Learner: You thrive in a customer centric, dynamic, ever-evolving, fast-paced environment

What you’ll do here:

  • Provide professional strategic consultation and coaching on human resources policies, processes, and programs to designated business partners
  • Actively participate in executive and management meetings with Corporate Claims business partners and ensure all decisions and practices align with our business strategies and values and are legally and ethically sound
  • Facilitate and conduct investigations related to employee relation issues through discovery meetings with managers and employees to provide ongoing consultation and coaching towards a resolution that makes sense for all parties involved
  • Actively partner with the business in the development, implementation, and follow up of employee engagement action plans and play a key role in our ongoing organizational transformation
  • Provide coaching to business partners to promote effective leadership attributes and practices
  • Play a key role in organizational transformations, anticipate issues and propose approaches to encourage support for effective change management
  • Work with business partners to identify talent management strategies that drive the retention, development, and progression of individuals to create high performing and engaged teams
  • Lead or participate in national and/or strategic HR projects that contribute to our ongoing organizational transformation and HR process improvement
  • Lead, develop and facilitate workshops, round tables and information sessions for managers and/or employees
  • Conduct needs analysis and assist leaders with their workforce planning needs

What you bring to the table:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree with a Human Resources specialization
  • Minimum 8-10 years of related experience as a Senior HR Consultant/HR Business Partner
  • Technical, up-to-date expertise in Human Resources and employment legislation
  • Proven ability to quickly establish and cultivate effective working relationships with business partners at all levels of the organization and influence their decision as necessary
  • A flexible, agile, and resilient approach to working in a dynamic ever-changing, fast-paced work environment
  • Strong planning and project management skills enhanced with can-do attitude
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven track record of critical and strategic thinking to solve operational and / or complex problems.
  • Knowledge in all areas of human resources including talent management, performance management and employee relations, disability management, change management, engagement, compensation, organizational development, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • CHRP and/or CHRL designation in progress.
  • Strong knowledge of digital tools such as the use of Microsoft Suite to work effectively in a virtual environment
  • Bilingualism in French and English is required considering the necessity to interact with colleagues across the country.
