Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Human Resource (HR) Manager is responsible for leading the HR department and designing and implementing HR programs aligned with the organization’s strategy and culture. This individual will support Edison Properties employees and managers in the areas of talent management and onboarding, compensation strategy, policies, and procedures, HRIS management, employee relations, reporting, and training.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in HR, Business, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, or related field.
- Preferably holding or actively working towards a Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience including people management
- Proficiency with HR information systems and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Working experience using UltiPro/UKG is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in payroll processing would be considered an asset.
- Clear Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector)
- A Valid Driver’s License is required and to be maintained.
- Access to a personal vehicle is required.
- Travel includes, but is not limited to, driving to buildings within the Edison Properties portfolio for staff events, staff meetings, etc.
- Position may require work outside of regular business hours.

Responsibilities:
HR Function Oversight:
- Manage all aspects of the human resources function, overseeing the allocation of work and performance against goals.
- Support the HR function in talent management programs (e.g., performance management, succession planning) and special projects and participate in full-cycle recruiting from posting and sourcing to selection.
- Develop and facilitate onboarding and offboarding, including managing logistics with appropriate teams and assisting with exit interviews.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and mentoring, drive employee development, and perform additional people management activities
Strategic Planning:
- Participates in strategic planning activities with the Senior Leadership team, providing concise recommendations based on research, metrics, and organizational factors. Provides input and oversees annual budget expenditures and resource requirements.
Performance Management:
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy, including conducting and leading investigations.
- Resolves conflicts through positive and professional mediation.
Policies and Program Development:
- Develop, implement, reinforce, and modify HR policies, programs, and procedures keeping in mind relevant legislation and best practices while aligning to the organization’s purpose and values. Remain up to date on HR best practices and industry trends in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide advice and assistance to employees and managers on HR policies, programs, and procedures.
- Research and advise management on compensation packages, performance evaluation, and bonus plans.
- Work with benefits providers on benefits plan structure and renewals.
HRIS Development and Quality Assurance:
- Maintain data quality within the HRIS, including proper data security, facilitating proper employee documentation, compiling reports as needed, defining system requirements, and testing and deployment of solutions.
- Provide ongoing user support, including developing and facilitating training, and creating supporting materials.
- Collect and analyze HR data, providing appropriate metrics. Prepare reports and participate in the design of HR dashboards.
- Respond to ad hoc data and report requests.
Measures Results:
- Identifies, monitors, and analyzes HR metrics to measure trends and progress against strategic goal accomplishment. Uses data to make business cases to senior management and to identify when changes or modifications to HR programs or projects are necessary.
Compliance:
- Negotiates and manages complex dispute resolution, handling confidential issues professionally and appropriately in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Monitors the environment including legislative compliance and takes measure action to mitigate risk.
Employee Engagement:
- Active collaboration with the Marketing team and Social Committee to plan events for Edison Properties staff.
- Active participation at staff events.
- Maintain open door for ad hoc discussions with all staff.
