POSITION OVERVIEW:
To lead execution of external client conversions, client reorganizations or restructurings, internal system conversions and other conversion related project work. To ensure that it is completed in an accurate and timely manner. This role will also involve making sure that the workload involving multiple concurrent projects and clients, is properly delegated, well balanced, and appropriately prioritized across the team, training new staff as necessary, and reviewing and signing off on completed client conversions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree/College diploma with focus on accounting/finance
- 5- 7 years of progressive industry experience
- Team Lead or People Management experience considered an asset
- Demonstrated understanding of fund accounting and valuation, custody and securities industry
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles
- Knowledge of CIBC Mellon InvestOne accounting platform, custody platform experience considered an asset
- Strong PC and technology related skills i.e. Excel macros / VBA
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to work within tight deadlines under limited supervision
Responsibilities:
- Lead new business implementations, system conversions and other transition related projects to ensure all conversion stages are completed accurately and timely, notifying all applicable parties throughout each stage to project completion.
- Manage the workload across the team to ensure appropriate levels for maximum productivity, delegating duties and establishing priorities, providing assistance and direction as necessary, making recommendations for potential adjustments, conducting team meetings, and team member training, as necessary.
- Direct and/or be actively involved in the creation, development, testing and implementation of conversion automation tools to efficiently load client data and reconcile to CIBC Mellon systems.
- Develop and build strong and positive client relationships by taking a lead role in client meetings.
- Assume responsibility for enquiries from clients, their agents, and internal or external auditors to ensure that matters are resolved appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Provide guidance or assist Fund Accounting teams through the parallel and go-live process, as necessary.
- Assist in the adoption of conversion related best practices for the design and development of a strategic implementation team plan for the department.
- Participate in the writing and review of new and/or existing Implementation Team Policies and Procedures (P&Ps). Ensure that new P&Ps are implemented and that the team is following established P&Ps, guidelines, and checklists.
- Enhance, build, and/or supply conversion reporting metrics to assist management in the allocation of resources, and the tracking & resolution of issues to ensure that deadlines are met and targets achieved.
- Participate in the recruitment of new staff and provide input or feedback for junior team member performance issues to the Manager, where necessary.
- Provide technical support & subject matter expertise for various Fund Accounting related projects, as required.
- Create proposed SOW budgets where necessary for clients and ensure that the team operates within budget and on schedule.
